Monetization of ESO? (access to content with ESO+ vs just buying Elsweyr edition)
I do not fully understand the differences between the two.
I'm currently playing the free-week trial, and am looking to pick up just the Elsweyr edition, which as I understand, should give me access to all expansions/content out so far.
Does that mean that I would be able to play all the content that is listed in the crown store under their respective categories (and also progression bonuses, whatever that means (are these just XP boosts?), as listed on the ESO+ website)?
I'm looking to play this somewhat casually and I try to stay away from subscription models as much as possible these for everything.
What content will I be missing if I buy this version (https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/the-elder-scrolls-online-elsweyr)? Just some cosmetics and shit?

Elsweyr only comes with elsweyr, summerset, morrowind, and the base game. Eso plus comes with everything except elsweyr and greymoor, but you still need to buy the base game. When greymoor comes out elsweyr should be added to eso plus as well, but greymoor will need to be bought still.
But Elsweyr is currently "everything" available right now, right?
No. Elsweyr only comes with the things i stated, if you look under the dlc tab in the in-game store you'll see a bunch of things that arent included, such as thieves guild and dark brotherhood. Eso plus comes with everything in that tab as long as you keep the sub going.
Elsweyr comes with a LOT. Buy that and by the time you finish it all Greymoor will probably be discounted
That seems like the most reasonable option.
If nothing else, I'd rather buy things individually rather than pay a subscription. With subscriptions I always feel like I'm wasting money if I'm not spending every second of my free time playing it.
It may have worked when I was still in school and could easily do 8 hours a day without it impacting anything, but not anymore.
The best thing about ESO plus is the craft bag. But if you don’t mind either skipping looting a bunch of stuff/not crafting, it then you shouldn’t notice a difference
I'm still new to the game as well, but it looks like it's a better bang for your buck to buy eso plus rather than buy crowns for dlc. Plus gives you X crowns every month depending on your sub plan, so on top of the regular benefits you're getting nearly as many crowns as you would straight out buying them anyway, even looks like plus includes some discounts in the store. This way you can at least test out some of the DLC before using those included crowns with the sub to permanently buy one of them. No need to be pressured in playing since you're essentially getting what you would buying crowns without the sub plus so much more for only a couple dollars more
