why do lcs pros use ult so weirdly/carelessly on ez?
was watching the c9 vs eg game and there were a lot of moments where zven used ult in random places when they are full hp. i think one instance was to clear the wave faster but isn’t ult like too big of a resource for you to use on that. isn’t it better to just have it during a team fight or snipe someone across the map? this happens a lot in all lcs games where someone is playing ezreal and i was wondering if it is just dogshit during team fights or something

Usually EZ has a lot of cdr from item build then can get ult cd reduced with every Q landed so it’s easy to get your ultimate back up. Also EZ ult isn’t very useful in team fights because it’s easily dodged, doesn’t do as much damage as W Q combo, takes a little while to actually use the ability (cast time) when you could’ve gotten two Qs off in the same amount of time or positioned differently.
It’s definitely useful for picking off enemy’s that are low and the damage in lane at level 6 is very useful just for poke especially if they are hit by W, but in team fights it’s only really useful at the very beginning before fight starts or at the true ending of the team fight.
Just want to add that the most important part of ulting at the beginning of a teamfight is not necessarily for the damage (although the damage is good too) but to get as many passive stacks as possible.
Ez ult isn't useful in teamfights? What? You can do up to like 600 damage per champion by landing it (unreduced when hitting multiple champions) and stack your passive right at the start of a teamfight. This is not insignificant.
The reason why people are pretty careless with Ez ult is because the cooldown is short with CDR + Q spam, and it helps with wave management and occasionally to scout an objective. If those options aren't on the table, you should absolutely save ult for a teamfight or skirmish where that damage matters.
Taking the time to land EZ ult mid team fight when two Qs will do 600 damage is pretty insignificant. You use it at the very beginning of a team fight to build passive or the ending phase of a fight when it’s probably back up from when they used it scouting/farming.
