Been looking at getting a stream deck, but had an obsolete iPad mini kicking around so I gave Touch Portal a go. Hotkeys for day! (details and files in comments)

Ha. This is set up in addition to my T.16000 HOTAS - more is better! (Especially for those 12 stupid buttons at the base of the stick that I always fat finger)

Lol yeah, I have the T16000 as well. I'm an explorer though so I don't need half of the key binds you have on the iPad. I have no weapons or chaff or anything like that. It is still a very cool idea though, I love the on/off light up on the buttons.

I backed up the whole project linked below, and it’s super easy to customize using the windows app. Drag/drop and a couple clicks and boom. New button!

Yeah, I only have two of those buttons bound to anything, and it’s the two right at the very edge, so they’re easy to mash with the side of my hand. Too hard to find the one I’m looking for otherwise.

I have the Hotas X Flight stick, is the T16000 worth the upgrade?

IMO, yes. It’s probably the best value for money HOTAS out there, before you make the jump up into the several hundred dollar range. YMMV though.

Chronusmax or a titan chip is the only way I know of.

Chronusmax is basically meant for cheating in FPSes but a side benefit is it can make a PC interface its peripherals with a PS4. So hypothetically with some time and dedication and a spare PC you could probably make whatever work in PS4 Elite.

I don't think, you can remap commands on hotas or controller... i can try with a keyboard... maybe it's possible.

This is AMAZING! Does it work wirelessly if I have an old android tablet? How does it get recognize by the PC? And how do you bind it in the controls within the game?

Haven’t tested on android, but touch portal does support android. It works wirelessly. You run the app on your pc that allows your tablet to connect. It then recognizes the virtual button presses and transmits them to keyboard input.
I bound by opening the bindings screen in E:D, selecting the secondary input for the control I wanted to bind, then pressing the virtual button on the tablet to map the key. Worked perfectly. The touch portal app on windows will also allow you to change the transmitted key presses if the bindings I used don’t work for you.

Keep us posted! I also have a Samsung tablet at home I got with a cell phone package that I barely use. This would give it a reason to live!

Good luck! Not sure if the backup files I saved will allow you to pull in the whole project, but figured I’d give it a go. If not, the page files are all saved separately (although you might have to create a “(main)” page and copy the ED_main page over manually, or copy the “MAIN” button over to the (main) page to allow you to get to it)

Question about the "status indicator dot" for commands like Landing Gear, Cargo Scoop etc..
I see that you've made act as a toggle when you press them, is that just for commands sent by the app or the server is somehow able to read the in-game status?
(i.e.: if I activate the command with another controller like a button on the throttle, do you see it?)

Just for commands sent. Next step might be to set up a python script to read the journal file and feed data back, but for now there’s definitely a chance of desync. If that happens, it’s just a matter of either going into a screen that won’t recognize the input and hitting the button, or hitting the corresponding key on the keyboard to resync.

Is this the not-to-be-named software? I know there's something like this that's unmentionable in this sub, it always gets removed by mods and I'm not sure why.

I’m not sure. I got the software link from this sub (on the excellent and inspiring post about the stream deck), so I’m assuming not? If it gets removed, I can scrub out the branding and repost.

I've seen it alluded many times and have no idea either. I don't see anything in the rules.

My understanding is there was heavy advertising on here. They will deny anything intentional/official, which like whatever maybe everyone on earth just loved it, but it was excessive. Also some think that it went past a normal touchpad or streamdeck with the depth on which it lets you macro. It lets you choose ahead of time how deep to drop a seismic charge seems to be something I've seen come up (but I can't find much more than that).

This looks damn cool, wish there was a way to see it in VR, but the camera passthrough has a bad resolution (plus it takes a second or two to activate).

oooh. i like this. i haven't been on Elite for a while but this might bring me back.
I mean, after I finish all the other stuff I've been playing that has a definite termination point built into the game.
although this is only for iDevices? that makes me sad if true :-( I'll have to see if it's on Google Play Store.

I just got a surface go 2 and am trying to justify the purchase beyond digital note taking and e reading. I'll try and remember to get back to you but I'm currently looking into adapting this for the go. If I haven't gotten back to you in a week either comment on this or message me directly. I'll keep trying to get it set up

But I’m old and cranky, and I’ll be f’d if I can remember all of the command keys, especially the ones I don’t use very often. And it looks cool. And I had an old iPad. And I’m an incorrigible geek.

I am using your Touch Portal app on an old IPad in conjunction with a thrustmaster t-flight hotas x flight stick' I love it, Brilliant job. Sir. But, One Question, the RUN BUTTON!!!! I guess it means "GET the HELL AWAY" But, Could you please break down the Key Stroke Commands for me? I can't seem to work them out. Ha Ha Thanks again

It doesn’t work as is. The plan (which I’ll fix when I get to it is:

four pips to shields

two pips to engines

pop chaff and heat sink

engage fsd
I’ll have to use discreet low level key presses in sequence - the coding is done as it is due to a fundamental brain fart on my end, and I never got round to fixing it.

A server runs on your pc, and the app runs on your device to connect wirelessly.

These are cool and if I weren't running dual T16000 I'd be looking at one for sure. But by using left trigger as the shift function the only time I touch the keyboard is to search for a system. Gives me 80ish buttons to bind without hands leaving the joystick.

Rather than a tablet, I use an Infinitton programmable keypad for this. Same sort of concept, but I find it fits easier on my desk (I use a TKL keyboard with it) and has general usability with pretty much any software or game.

As a new user of touchpad I cannot thank you enough. I love it and seriously stepped up my game! Not graphically able as you so incredibly pleased to have actual buttons instead of just words!

I had an old iPad mini that is not updateable past IOS9, which limits its functionality. But it turns out Touch Portal is usable on IOS9.3 or better, so thought I'd give that a try. Turned out OK, I think! Hotkeys map via low level key presses to the PC, tested OK (I used the iPad to map the buttons in the key bindings). Will also work on Android and iPhone.
What you'll need: Touch Portal Pro ($18), upgrade from the app store. Available from https://www.touch-portal.com/
I used PowerPoint to design the buttons. Sample .ppt is in the document dump. Once they were designed, group all the elements for one button and copy into a pic editor to save as .png

Can you tell me the what the Keybinds for your Combat/Analysis toggle are? They are ALT +Right Shift + Numpad *, but how do they translate in Options,
