Exalts this league...

As a casual player who hasn't logged on in a week, I literally just decided to quit this league because of ex prices. I converted 900c to 15ex a week ago to get ready to buy an item that was 16ex.
Logged on now and that item is 35ex and I would have a ton more grinding just to get back to the same place I was a week ago.
That's a no from me. Was already losing interest and that just killed it.
casual player
900c
:kek: get on my 20c casual level bro
Casual player who got a doctor from stacked deck this league :)
... But then lost over half of that to inflation
Well you made a wrong investment decision that's all. Also 20ex is now like 600c? What's a problem to farm 600c? That's less than 3ex in harvest prices..
That’s their point. A traditional safe currency is no longer safe and they lost half of their money. That’s demoralizing.
Just keep half in chaos and half in ex and you are safe.
Well you made a wrong investment decision that's all.
He's not saying otherwise, just that it sucks. Most people don't want to make investment decisions to play the game.
What's a problem to farm 600c?
His entire league start was 900c, so for him, quite a lot.
Just keep half in chaos and half in ex and you are safe.
He still would've just got half boned.

What map is this, Cemetery? Because of the div card?
Port, folks were running 100% Delirium on it, Cemitery and Tower for cards.
What’s Port give again?
The Saint's Treasure
I think it was the Saint's Treasure (2 ex card), which is now worth much less (but certainly more common than brother's stash).
I think Empy was running it early league before Cemitery, not anymore though.
Eh, people have been running juiced Port for many leagues now.
I bought a bunch at 37 thinking thats a great deal and they'll trend towards 150 any time now.
Just about how I invest IRL to be honest.
Steady hands get the tendies... But tbh I don't think that'll happen here, probably a Guh
Honestly I can't wait to se the prices sky-rocket soon since most people will buy up for standard and to use them there later
In fact, this is the norm and very ironic, in a league that was supposed to enrich many, on the contrary, they became poor and unnecessary to anyone. This is a normal situation in economics when everyone has a dollar, it suddenly becomes useless to anyone, including league content where strong crafting items are not used has pushed the exalted to an even greater abyss.
Buy exalts early they said, they'll get more expensive they said.
I think 60c per exalt was a nice price. Make it 50c even! For simple math trades for brainlets like me!
Bruh I hoarded 40 ex before the 60c dip to today's price, thinking they'll be going back up anytime now.
Anytime now. Right?

That meme made me laugh real hard.
At least there is a less need to have a mechanic to break Exalts into shards after this league :D
I think it'd great for most people if exalt become 40ish chaos every league.
Apparently most people only play until like level 90 and make a build from the chaos out of a single exalt drop.
Being able to actually craft is meaningless to them because they never get that far. They just get to the 1st lucky drop, spend the money, burn out and quit.
Except now its only 40c, instead of a 150.
holy shit thats me. get maybe 1 - 2 exalts per league, buy a 6l and a couple build enabling things kill awakener 6 or so, get bored of mapping and quit
Tempering Orb - most fun part of the league content now - its almost 10 ex at this point :)))...
Only ppl farming fractured blueprints make ANY kind of money right now.
Playing feels unrewarding for vast majority of ppl it seems. PoE does not value their time.
True... heist is boring and maps feel unrewarding. I also cannot afford that 60Ex trinket.
So I am caught between rock and hard place and do not feel the excitement of the league anymore. I also tried to play Heists as intended and I am bored with slideshow of 80 monsters behind door that kills me - I have GeForce 1080, which is good enough for anything else.
Not true. Try farming 100% delirium
Making roughly the same situation Legion did with HH 5-way farm. Unless you farm league content in specific way you are way behind.
That is why Harvest was so popular. You could just play game and not worry about your gear in the mid-long term. While now to keep up with inflation you need to farm specific cloned blueprint or... rmt? of wait... that is big GGG plan while banning bots all along! Just force playerbase into farming 1 copy of Heist contract. lol
Can relate... Going from trade league all leagues to trying out ssf this league was a lot of fun. Until you get to the point where fuses/jewellers are useless because you have the links you need, you're resist capped on good bases and even have a few dps mods here and there.
That happened at around awakening level 6 for me this league and at this point I can play for an entire evening and still feel like I have gotten nowhere. My build is far from god tier with splitting steel for clear and groundslam for bossing, so there is plenty of improvements to be made. However being in SSF you currently hit a ceiling very quickly where you have to get insanely lucky to get upgrades within a reasonable timeframe. Kind of lost interest after 200 chaos and 600ish alts gave me no upgrades to a pretty shitty ring to start with.
I could easily continue and I could probably kill A8 sirus no problem, however I feel like there's nothing to work towards with the steady progress of Harvest ><
Looking forward to some form of harvest next league as it might at least give the possibility of doing incremental upgrades. I loved harvest crafting but recognized that it was too op, hoping to see a scaled down version.
you could also put together a 5 mirror build and deep delv
lol I make like 200c/h just from normal heists and I am pretty casual gamer. you don't need to loot only exalts to earn currency
This has been true for ages. It's also why there's such a disconnect between people's opinions on things like Harvest crafting. People who played very little saw great return on their time invested. People who play a bunch "finished" what they were working on super fast, so they felt burnt. Middling players could now better access the upper echelons of the game, which meant the upper players couldn't feed off of them as much.
PoE's economy is based around the idea that there is a majority of players who can't make effective use of their scarabs/beasts/exalts/D.orbs/fossils/etc and feeds those to players who can super juice with them.
Imagine trying to super juice your maps without people selling you the stuff you need for that.
same
Try making an aura stacker. You will be upgrading the same build until the end of the league ez. I'm still buying the gear (budget version - 2.5k ish chaos) and don't think it will play well yet
rly? XD I consider myself as casual player but always put that 30-50 ex in main char before ending league
Yes this, like wtf. A casual that got lucky with 2ex drop past leagues would've been like whoooppdefuckingdooooo, I can make my char stronger and enjoy it a bit.
Now, everything is a just grinding chaos. If GGG said, ok we are increasing exalt drop rates everywhere, then it is fine. But exalts did not get that, only a small group of people have their hands on these candy machines.
It's not a small group of people at all. It's just that redditors, for some reason, are pretty consistently awful at making currency.
The average person on this reddit is far more casual than the average person printing exalts. The average player is far, far more casual than the average redditor.
There is an inverse relation to networth and reddit karma.
chaos recipe is suggested to be worthwhile in trade league here regularly not as a joke
People who post on this sub are probably more experienced than the vast majority of players. The large majority of players try PoE, go through a few acts, and give up. Of the players who stay, the large majority have never even seen Shaper. But the tiny minority of players who play enough to print exalts gets all the attention, so reddit has fooled itself into thinking that's somehow normal.
hot take: it's not healthy for a game that prides itself on having a huge variety of content to pick and choose from to have one clear optimal way of acquiring wealth - particularly when there's no way to scale its rewards by turning up the difficulty (aside from slapping an alch on it).
even after the market has corrected itself to the tune of 28c:1ex and dropping, it's still head and shoulders above other methods of printing currency.
MF meta fell off the face of the earth because the clear direction of recent leagues, particularly delirium and including metamorph and legion, has encouraged players to optimize their builds to take on as difficult content as possible for maximum rewards. grand heist money printing is a massive regression in that regard.
Dude, if you think reddit players are bad at making currency, think about how bad the average player is.
In my anecdotal experience with all games i played, the average redditor is always "better" than the average player of the game.
If you as a player are at a point where you reach out a community like reddit and get lots of extra information you are already miles ahead of the real average player.
And the average player even worse... Usually people active on the sub is the people who actually play the game alot. Like the guy who made a thread yesterday, saying he is a "casual player, only playing 3-4 hours DAILY"

Seriously, all this community does is complain. All day, every day.
When ex is 150c, people complain that it isn't really a crafting material since nobody ever uses them, cuz it doesn't make sense.
When it is at 30c, people complain that the value of drops is too low.
And of course they ignore the fact that when the price is low you can actually use them, and when the price is high the drop value is good.
Lets not even mention the fact that the amount of wealth one can get is the, fucking, same because they are cheaper, it means there is simply more of them. But that would blow some people's mind, so lets stop here.
Remember - the magical 1% always wins and you can never do the same thing.
There is no way of making you lot happy, you will always complain about something.
I would argue that since item prices will be measured against chaos and retain that relative value, high exalt prices are actually better for really casual players.
Items are valued against chaos right now, so while in the past a lucky exalt (150c) drop might fund a build into red maps, this league an exalt (30c) just buys your cheap starter uniques. It's the difference between filling 2 slots and filling every slot with decent items.
The increased ability to farm exalts is out of their reach because of the super high starting cost for the trinket/fractured fossils.
I still agree with your sentiment that people will complain no matter what, as evidenced by all the previous leagues where people complained about exalt prices being too high for casual players.
You're completely ignoring why they are cheaper though.
If GGG had passively increased their drop rate across all content and they simply just started dropping more, sure, it'd make sense. The inflation would hit the entire playerbase more or less equally.
The problem is, that is not why exalts are cheap. Exalts are cheap because a tiny percentage of the playerbase are just massive nerds, and are literally grinding the exact same single blueprint over and over and over and over with a trinket that 99% of the playerbase will never be able to obtain... so much so, that it's crashing the entire economy. EVeryone else is only seeing the negative aspects of inflation.
While the split 17 currency blueprints are absolutely spitting out exalts, just doing heist the "normal" way is still extremely profitable. I'd say compared to a casual person who normally just alch and go's maps, just running normal contracts and then grand heists when you have the markers for them is WAY more profit than people would be used to.
I am casual, I have spent 55 ex yesterday for perfect blueprint, rogue eq and 3% ex/1% divine orb trinket. I have made around 40 ex back in a single day of playing (for me, that means 4h after work). It is not a candy machine for top 1% this league, people are just lazy to prepare proper grand heists...
Sure, lazy as fuck, first tell me how to get those 60 ex to set everything up.
Yeah, no.
I feel so called out it's not even funny.
But that one exalt also gets you less now.
Kinda true. This league I actually had a vacation and went with bleed bow. I enjoyed it and sank few exalts at price 60 in better bow and few awakened links - each cost around 100c. I cannot afford Awakened Fork or Awakened Brutality for 500 chaos each and it would take ages to farm those 500 chaos twice. So I am somewhat burnt out and not willing put in so many hours for minor upgrade.
And great bleed bows with Elder enchant go for 25Ex and higher.
How do you know my life?!
Except it is 30c now and god knows how much lower it will go
25c now
This is me 100%. Make a league start build. Get a Ex which will normally allow you to buy a build enabling item. Make new build then just basicly turn that 1ex investment over and over again for difrent builds.
heist was the first league i quit super early on. Not heist fault even though i didn't do heist at all bc i crashed 80% of the time. I used something like 6k fusing on a carcass and never got 6L So i stopped playing lol
This here is me alright. Too burn out to even attempt the 24 or w/e league challenges.
Well then, Chaos recipe is more valuable and they can learn that relying on luck is not always worth it.
I think its more the volatility of exalts atm l that is really most harmful to most players. I’ve had many trade offers for items for 10+ex instead of the listed chaos over the past few days, and if I did those trades, i would have lost anywhere from 50-100c had not known to immediately break the exalts upon receiving them (something most people likely don’t do).
In fact, I feel bad for the weekend only players who have potentially seen their bankroll cut anywhere from 1/4-1/2 since they last logged in.
Ex valued at 40c is great, ex valued at ? and trending down by the hour is not so great.
^ this is exactly the problem.
Not sure whats the best solution, maybe a vendor recipe to floor its value at something? even if 20c.
I sold a big synth base I dropped by chance on a Heist for 30ex early in the league, less than a week later, those 30ex were worth 10ex in chaos. Thats not a game breaking issue but it pushes players (non-casuals or casuals in trade league) into braindead farming techniques if they want to sustain currency for builds. I prefer the thrill of chasing a big ticket item from Sirus (like awakened gems) or actually chasing an item drop zone (like Shav's cards)
This is why fusing/divine orb/ancient orbs can be best to ride out the fluctuations
even divines have dropped from 8c to 6c. and fuses generally lose value as the league progresses as well. this market is only good for the people who are warping it so heavily that ex is traveling back in time to 2012.
it isnt exalt:c thats a problem, its c:everything else
currency is basically a meme at this point. fusings are 6:1, alchs are 8:1, vaals are 10:1. dont even mention chisels. alts are only worth something because they dont drop in bps
I totally feel the same way. It's awesome for casuals and the elite still have concrete assets. No idea why people are complaining so much
Because if you don't minmax heist, you don't get much more exalts than before. And these rare moments where you finally drop one raw doesn't feel that good now. It's not like everything suddenly became that much cheaper, people just price in chaos.
Now, one might say that they have a cheaper multimod - but I think it's not enough to outweight 30c exalts. And besides that, I'd say when we start talking about actively using multimod, we aren't really talking about casuals anymore.
The ability to profit via the chaos recipe is a HUGE boon to casuals, unlike anything we've had before. Before it was, pray for ex, get shit on if you didn't get it. Now you do 15 unid'd chaos recipes per ex, trade 30ish ex for a mirror shard in the time it'd take you to put together an ex at 250-1 in previous leagues.
but prices in chaos didn't go down nearly as much as exalts did. 6l uniques for example went up in exalt prices when exalts dropped.
What about influenced items recipe for 4 exalted shards? It is less worth doing than chaos recipe which is weird
Even this league chaos recipe is a complete trap. Check alt rates. You are better off IDing everything, selling the good stuff and vendoring the rest for alts.
The problem is exalts are dropping in value every day. If they held their value or inflated slightly it would be fine
How is it good for casuals? Casuals get maybe four or give exalts drop a league. That use to be enough to buy a few nice things, now it's sweet fuck all and buys nothing.
I disagree. I usually rely on natural exalt drops and the chaos recipe to fund my starter build most leagues. with how worthless exalts are this league, I would be hard pressed to finish my build this league if I didn't get effing stupid lucky with double corrupting my 6l shavs to have +2 proj gems and selling it for 40ex. (friend gave me a 6s shavs, I pumped 300 fuses into it, then a different friend 6l'd it with his first fuse. stupid crazy luck this league, man)
Because why tune the game toward the lowest common denominator, who consistently struggle at the basic parts of the game like making currency?
Theres games that are easy and forgiving, and new player friendly, and I dont want this game to be that. GGG promised us the game would not be like that. Those people can go to grim dawn or something.
It’d be great if i didn’t have to get a 75ex trinket and spam 3ex fossils on a 20ex blueprint in order to get a share of the only money printing machine.
It would just be a feel good thing for noobs and people who struggle to make currency. Everyone else would readjust and a HH would be like 140ex.
They can go lower. Imagine being able to slam every piece of gear, heck at this point with how many different influences, obscure crafting methods, fossils, essences, synthesis... Slamming isnt even that great anymore. Lets keep EX cheap and let people slam medium tier gear until they can create endgame gear.
have you ever heard of betrayal and what leo can do in it? if you are creating exalt slam-worthy gear faster than you can generate Leos then I don't know what to say. you are on some dedicated factorio crafting shit in which case you probably know how to make money and not worry about ex prices.
Hey thanks for not reading my comment, I clearly said "Lets keep EX cheap and let people slam medium tier gear" As in, LET PEOPLE USE THEM. Let people feel like they can afford to toss an EX at any old piece of gear for a random chance at a decent mod, instead of gatekeeping ex slams to people who find items with 5 T1 mods on it and meta craft them so they can 100% their slams. You should never EVER feel like you are better off selling an ex for gear over using one, EVER. They exist to be used, not to be hoarded for the 1%.
I think people should feel like they can afford to use a free leo slam instead. I feel like you are actually the one not reading comments. I have slammed tons of items that I wear because they happened to have 5 mods, nowhere near worth slamming even at a 50c ex, but a free leo slam is free. There isn't even an opportunity cost to running the betrayal missions, since ITF in the same research rooms as the leo is extremely profitable.
