We need to stop sugar in America too!

1
Claytonius19•

How many people can you kill with a bag of sugar?

0
anon718271917•

Well sugar makes people fat and then fat makes diabetes, so probably a lot of people in the long run. Considering most of America is obese.

3
Claytonius19•

Not what I asked, if you walk into the street with a bag of sugar how many people can you kill.

Not how people may have to much of something that could cause them health issues.

2
anon718271917•

Depends on how big the bag is, who you go for, and how big the person is. So If we went with Arnold Schwarzenegger he could probably kill like 2 or 3 people before he's shot to death cuz almost everyone in America owns a gun.

Btw suicides make up around 60% of all gun deaths. And in 2017 (can't find 2019-2020) gun deaths only totalled 40,0000 (i rounded the number) deaths compared to 300+ mill people in America.

andreew10•

More people in a year than guns kill tbf

2
Claytonius19•

That doesn't answer my question, how many people could you kill with a bag of sugar?

1
ajbdbds•

Depends how hard you hit them and how durable the bag is

1
okay-boio•

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. We should be allowed to have guns if we want, but it isn’t the guns fault the triggers being pulled.

1†
zuluportero•

You should have them but you want them. But you shouldn't just get it. There should be tests and classes like for a drivers license.

1
okay-boio•

There are tests and such you have to go through. You can’t just go and purchase a fucking gun and go on a killing spree.

0
BetelphiOP•

Don't get me started on how to limit the number of people over time...

0
okay-boio•

Lmaooo, that’s not my point. Of course it’s a tragedy that people die, but people are going to get guns whether they’re illegal or not. Look at drugs. You’re punishing the many for the crimes of the few and the few will still commit crimes so you’re not really punishing anyone but those that use them for protection.

1
ajbdbds•

With guns.

1
killer929•

Guns are a right to stop the government from getting too much power. Take too much and we’ll be in the exact scenario that started the revolutionary war

1
kashmirkiikali•

Hahahaha AHAHAHAHAHA I can’t imagine a more embarrassing scenario than to out yourself for being a self avowed racist.

-1
killer929•

How does that make me racist? You blow in from stupid town?

1
keyblade1984•

Spot on on your initial response.

I wouldn't worry about it, nothing you said was "racist", but was factual to the Constitution, but I'm sure there are people who believe the Constitution is outdated and the work of evil white men of power.

The word "racist" has been used and labeled so incorrectly so often, and in most cases its used when provable facts with hard truths to accept are used in debate. Just because these truths are not desired or don't fit to one narrative or another doesn't make them any less true. This results in the word/label "racist" becoming the lazy rebudle to counter debate to avoid "losing".

2
kashmirkiikali•

Why’d you pull a scared turtle and delete?

1
killer929•

I didn’t delete, the post got removed

1
DeadcthulhuX•

Are you naturally stupid or do you have to make an effort to say such idiotic shit?

1
kashmirkiikali•

I’m not the one who tried to claim any war fought on this soil was because white people were disenfranchised. Cry me a damn river. Hope you can swim.

And awww, they deleted their post. Defend cowardice as well.

1
DeadcthulhuX•

You're the only one who brought up race. That makes you the racist.

0
keyblade1984•

Yikes what shallow and a cringe comment right here.

"Racist" how?

You assume being a lawful gun owner/2A supporter is limited to color of one's skin or to one race alone.

I can promise you if the fundamental meaning of the 2A ever comes to pass, with the hope for the USA it never does, your chosen reality on how things really are will crumble, and you will be faceed with some hard and honest truths that many people see and accept presently.

1
kashmirkiikali•

I am a lawful gun owner. I said what I said for a reason. Yikes.

1
keyblade1984•

Outstanding for exercising your American citizen right in regards of the 2A.

You mind providing your "reasons" for assuming kiler929 is a "racist" for his initial comment then?

Thank you for submitting to r/unpopularopinion, u/Betelphi. Your post, America can and should get rid of its guns over time., has been removed because it violates our rules:

Rule 1: Your post must be an unpopular opinion.

Please ensure that your post is an opinion and that it is unpopular. Controversial is not necessarily unpopular, for example all of politics is controversial even though almost half of the US agrees with any given major position on an issue.

Keep in mind that an opinion is not: a question, a fact, a conspiracy theory, a random thought, a new idea, a rant, etc. Those things all have their own subreddits, use those.

If there is an issue, please message the mod team at https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Funpopularopinion Thanks!

Yeah, that way the government can do whatever they want to us, and we wouldn't be able to do shit about it.

0
barer00t•

I'd get this if like the bad guys were being pushed back by noble hearted civilians with guns but they aren't. The same people who fight for the right to keep guns are the ones who support the status quo. As an outsider America looks like it's been in a pretty bad shape for a while and armed civilians haven't really done much to improve it.

2
Beetleguese6666•

Americans who own guns do so to prevent bad guys, and removing the right to bear arms entirely won't help anyone but criminals.

-1
barer00t•

But you don't see a militant police force in any other western country like you do in America. If the point of having guns is to stop government tyranny it's not working very well.

1
Beetleguese6666•

And how is the solution to that less civilian gun ownership, as opposed to more?

1
kashmirkiikali•

Because you’re so oppressed you’ve taken up arms? Lollllllllllllllllllllllllll

1
Beetleguese6666•

Not because I am, but because I will be. My forefathers didn't risk their lives for the right to bear arms for nothing, you know.

-1
kashmirkiikali•

No, I don’t know. Teach me how hard life is for your people.

0
Beetleguese6666•

It isn't. Taking away the right to bear arms will make it hard.

1
DeadcthulhuX•

I have yet to see a single compelling reason as to why we should get rid of guns. Criminals will always find a way to commit their crime whether it's at the barrel of a fun, the blade of a knife, or behind the wheel of a car. Murderers will murder and disarming the public will only make it easier to prey on them.

Look at somewhere like England. No guns, so people commit crimes with machetes and knives. Taking guns away won't suddenly eliminate crime, criminals will always find a way.

Responsible gun owners aren't a problem, even slightly reckless gun owners aren't the problem. The problem is criminal activity, and that will never change. People are dicks.

0
Claytonius19•

So we should let everyone have nukes as well right? Responsible WMD owners won't be a problem and crime already happens after all.

0
DeadcthulhuX•

That's a complete non sequitur. You've done nothing to refute my point, try again.

0
Claytonius19•

It's not a non sequitur, it's expanding on your point and apply the exact logic you've used to justify your position.

0
DeadcthulhuX•

You're applying my logic but leaving out any subtlety or context. You're comparing a firearm to a nuclear warhead, and the comparison is ridiculous and does not follow.
