I wear ball caps occasionally out for errands if I don’t feel like brushing my hair. I wear them to work out because a. The brim keeps sweat out of my eyes and b. Keeps my hair from getting on my face

I do it because I go to the gym in the morning before I shower and my hair is a greasy mess. So im not gonna snark on Jill's hat, although I am gonna snark on her wearing a nike workout top while the rest of her kids are (as usual) wearing completely inappropriate attire for the activity at hand.

If he becomes an actual pastor he would have a job. I don't know what kind of ministry job is that, Jill made a vague claim weeks ago, I just hope it will be an actual job related to church and not some grifting.

I used to work in a gym. We would get at least two people a year who couldn’t comprehend that working out without shoes is dangerous. Thinking about it, they were always Jills type of people.

It's like a family of aliens were told that working out at the beginning of the year was a human custom or something, and they don't understand the basic principle of going to the gym

We used to have a mom who would come in with her husband and two kids. They would wear street clothes and the mom would always talk about her kids like they weren’t two feet away from her. She was so sure that her son was a basketball champion and tried to get us to hire him to teach classes. The kid was sweet, but clearly sucked at basketball.
They eventually stopped coming because we started enforcing a heavy “no recording in the workout areas” rule because of her and she felt attacked about it. Now I’m wondering if she’s somehow related to Jill...

I traveled to Namibia several years ago. The hotel had a decent gym, and people were working out without shoes. It seemed the norm over there. But, at least they had decent workout clothes, not whatever they're wearing (except for Nurie).

it really does not sit right with my soul that nurie and nathan were roped into this. especially since all the snark boards have been talking up how nurie looks like she's getting healthy. does jill WANT a starving daughter, even when she's left the roost?

not two weeks after discharging from outpatient for an eating disorder, my mom began the same patterns of body comments and checks. keep in mind that like nurie, i have always been a slim woman. i'm certain from this experience that many narcissistic mothers do this. it was the first thing that came to mind when i saw nurthan at the hotel gym.
she can't get pregnant if she's SEVERELY underweight, i wonder if that has something to do with it as well. jill did want to get preggo at the same time as nurie, weight control could just be another method of keeping nurie under her thumb. the sooner she goes back to florida with nathan, the better.

I realize I might have been a bit triggering in my comment. I mean all around Nurie is looking much healthier. Hair, skin, happiness, etc... I was not being picky about her weight. I don’t wish eating issues on anyone. I hope she is feeling good in her body.

i can resist most of my mother's manipulation because i was fortunate to be "worldly" and i saw how other mothers acted. can't imagine being nurie...

This sounds so petty to a lot of people but part of why I do not speak to my mom is that every time she sees me she looks me up and down and makes a comment about how I'm still acceptably thin. But you know, could be thinner.
She also shares strategies for under eating and purging, and I just can't anymore. I feel bad for the rodlettes because at least I had other adult female role models and saw a doctor and stuff so I knew that kind of thing was not healthy.

Why is she wearing eyeliner at the gym in the first place?! I will gently line under my waterline and even doing that I have smearing by the end of the day. I can't imagine sweating and getting all that in my eyes.

The sad part is that Jill probably encouraged Nurie to work out because she's starting to get to a normal healthy weight and Jill prob sees that as fat.

Nathan looks exactly like my 70 year old uncle in that sweater. My uncle also wears the same shirts over and over again. He would also absolutely wear a sweater to work out in a gym

Is this the gym at the motel where Tiny Tim apparently works? Imagine trying to work out with Jill talking, taking pictures, and I imagine singing.
She is so rude.
Never mind, did she drag these people there without them knowing where they were going? Like when you take your dog to the vet?
My theory is that Nathan and Nurie didn’t know this would happen and didn’t pack appropriately. We know the Rods don’t wear proper gym clothes but I can’t see Nathan wearing an argyle sweater to the gym on a normal day.
I actually think Nurie’s outfit is the most sensible. Wonder if she borrowed a large tshirt from one of the boys, skirt above the knee, leggings, sneakers, hair up. It’s not perfect but it’s better than the khakis and polos the rest of the family is sporting.
Is Jill’s shirt for cycling? It looks like the shirts the middle aged cyclist guys wear. Of course she’s the only one with something quick dry and everyone else is in heavy knits and cotton.
Nathan seems to have a t-shirt on under the sweater though. And packed shorts at least. The whole thing is confusing to me.
Maybe it’s like...a muscle tank, and that’s the only workout wear he packed but it got vetoed by Jill? That could also explain Nurie’s giant shirt...it could be covering less modest but normal workout clothes. (I really really really want those two to be living a somewhat normal existence in Florida. The fact that Nurie looks so much better as a married lady gives me hope!)
Maybe he just wants to keep his muscles warm while working out? A normal person would wear a hoodie but I could see he maybe didn’t bring one. Who knows. Nurie’s outfit is v sensible, considering. No shoes brother tho... what u doing.

I'm actually impressed with Nurie's workout outfit, I wasn't expecting that from a Rod daughter. It looks like something an insecure middle age mom would wear her first time at the gym.

Poor Nathan and Timmy look like they were completely unprepared, like when you get to the party where everyone is swimming and you didn't bring a swimsuit.

A lot of people here seem to think he's working at the Berlin Resort. This is definitely their fitness center.
I worked in hotels for over 10 years (not anymore, thanks COVID!) and like...even as a department head, I definitely was never allowed free use of the hotel gym like this. I wonder if the hotel does like "discounted memberships" for people in town to make up for losses of revenue during the pandemic? Because otherwise this doesn't seem that realistic!
They have memberships open to the community accd to their website. It's $35 a month plus $5 a day for any guests who come with the member. I can't see the Rods paying for that.
I can see Timmy having an actual membership and bringing them for $5 occasionally, since they barely ever work out.
How have they not been kicked out
I'd be used to the talking, taking pictures, and singing. Happens every year with resolutioners that come to the gym. They have to make sure EVERYONE knows they were there.
