I hope the cottage is doing well through all this
Flair: "Victory Screen". Hahahahaha.
I don't get it. How was Zagreus escape connected with the everlasting winter?
The joke is based on certain dialogue in a game. Basically, >!Demeter, after learning that Persephone is okay, cuts that stuff with everlasting winter. However, she decides to keep that one place, where Zag fights his father, exit from the Underworld, forever cold. As a reminder of what happened.!<
But it was winter before he escaped as well is what I mean.
!In greek mythology, demeter causes winter the 6 months persephone lives in the underworld, while causing summer when persephone is on the surface. In the game, Demeter doesn't know what has happened to her daughter and as revenge for her disappearance she causes the eternal winter stuff. Her disappearance happened before the start of the game, so winter also started before we get to the story!<
!Yup, Zagreus basically ended an ice age by finding his mother and getting her to reunite with the Olympians.!<
Yeah it’s pretty neat, actually. And the allusions made by several gods hint that there’s desperate war among mortals because it’s gone on so long.
Oh no... I only just beat Hades for the second time and clicked the spoiler and saw the first sentence. This sub is just too addicting, I keep wanting to read more even though I know I shouldn't. Gaaah. Great game though, crazy how much content and story is packed into it.
Good news is that there's so much of the game to experience that you've still got SO MUCH content to enjoy.
NOW STOP CLICKING ON SPOILER TABS
User from Finland here. We find it cute and hilarious how South-Europeans react to the small amount of snow. XD
Though to be reasonable... I totally understand that in the countries, where the phenomenon is rarer, the reaction obviously is different and that the system isn't as well prepared to deal with it.
It's crazy how this varies. I'm Brazilian and we get 40C° every year, and we just get annoyed and lethargic at worst. When Europe got 40C° last year, it was basically a natural disaster (understandably, but still surprising for us)
In the South of Spain, when there is a heat wave in the summer, our temps reach 45º, although normal hotter days in the summer tend to be 35-38º.
40C° would be absolutely insane in Finland. Though just over 30C° is fine. We miss temperatures like that during winters (and vice versa).
There are regions in Siberia, which experience both extremes. Here, the sea will even the temperatures.
40°C is really hot right? I live in the US south, our summers regularly top 100°F and I've never seen snow in my life.
It's 104°F, to be specific
It's about 105°F
In most of South America the high heats happen in very humid regions too (big outliers are the desert portions of Chile and Peru). Here in Lima we rarely get over 34 C° but albeit it feels annoying, you dont feel like dying either, and Lima is one of the most humid cities in the world (which its bizarre bc it doesnt ever rain, its a weird place)
Dry heats are far, far more dangerous, which is what typically hits Europe.
I'm from Kentucky and people freak out over 1 inch of snow, we recently got 8 inches in 1 night (thats what she said) and people are losing their minds
8 inches is 20.32 cm

yeah and 6 people literally died in texas in a huge pile up due to the freezing rain
Woah woah woah Wait
There's a south europe
"Southern" would probably have been a better term. I'm not a native English speaker and I mess up like that all the time. I have grammar addon installed, but it doesn't see all the mistakes. :D
Today I learned there is a grammar addon. I think a lot of native english speakers could make use of that
Did you know that there is a whole country with people who speak Spanish and are actually white european and not Mexicans?
Sorry I was just making a stupid joke
Me too. Why are you sorry? And why did people downvoted you? lol
In my experience in the US, I’ve lived in a place where snow is common in the winter and a place where it snows once or twice each winter at most. The latter place doesn’t have a fleet of snow plows, and they never salt the roads, and nobody owns snow tires (or chains for tires). It’s also a much hillier terrain, so it would be difficult for plows to even get to a lot of places. So that city pretty much shuts down with an inch of snow, while people just go on with their lives in places that can deal with it.
Exactly. I live in Chicago and we are basically under 2 feet of snow right now. But we get lake effect snow every year that can get bad so we're prepared for it. My friends used to love to make fun of the south for shutting down after an inch of snow, but they just have no resources set up fro dealing with it because it isn't supposed to happen haha
Hello from northern Kazakhstan, today we had non-stop snow all day, but we have +40 C in July as well.
I read this comment while on a road trip with my family to the snow!
I used to live in a place where a bad snowstorm could give a couple feet of snow in the winter. In the summer it would hit 104F/40C for at least a few days. It was awful and I’m never moving back there again
I wish i could drive with Spikes on the snow.
You would react this way too if your infrastructure and culture wasn't set up to prepare for this. Im from canada, we spend probably billions of dollars in winter weather-related stuff that those places just don't. Even making fun of a two inch snow, if you don't have the ability to mass clear/salt and if people aren't prepared with things like winter tires, even that little amount of snow can be a disaster
Oof. I don't envy those folks having to walk around on Athens' marble paved sidewalks with all that snow and ice
It lasted only a day.
Just for the record, we haven't seen that much snow in Athens for 10 years. I hope Demeter is happy.
Been playing too much Valheim. Thought this was someone’s mountain fortress for a sec.
I hope there's a fishing spot somewhere!
No way, this is too much of a coincidence! Yesterday was the first time I escaped the Underworld. When I came out and saw the whole mountaintop filled with snow, my sister was watching and said "That's Greece? Greece? Greece...?" And I was telling her yeah, you know - it snows in Greece sometimes, maybe...
They say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is...
"Bloody hell, Stephen, this had better be good!"
Demeter’s mad x20
you can even hear demeter's bitter blame
“A WASTELAND VOID OF LIFE!”
