Shelf above them is for the lids?
Yes. It says lids and the small sign says a shortage on canning supplies
I work at a large grocery store and we hardly ever get lids and rings in anymore just random sized jars. When we do get them in I buy a couple boxes just to have
I work at a large grocery store and we hardly ever get kids and rings in anymore just random sized jars.
I've only been canning since 2005, but kids with appropriate sized rings are definitely a rare find! Usually the moms are looking for them
I fixed it almost immediately you saw that fast lol
heheheh
Nice find! I had some luck over the weekend at a Menards in Champaign, IL. They had a ton of everything including lids. I felt like I found an actual gold mine lol
Omg, my family lives near there. I should ask my mom to stop by. Might have to check out my local M first though.
Definitely check it out! I was even there on a busy Saturday afternoon and they still had so much.
SO JEALOUS
I only bought 40 cases
It seems stuff is coming back around. I seen a good shipment of jars at farm and fleet & menards the last 2 weeks. I spotted 3 cases of wide lids at menards in N. Illinois. If y'all haven't got the menards app, I recommend it, they show what's in stock and where it's located, with the ability to show what's in stock nearby
Thank you! Menard app
oh how i wish we had shelves like that in Australia. I've never seen jars in an actual store. Only online.
Now do ammo 🤣
Academy Sports and Sportsman's Warehouse were my friends. I almost have a lifetime supply.
It would be nice to have more than 25 .22LR cartridges, though.
Argh! I can't find pint and a half jars anywhere!
So jealous!
asparagus jars!! i thought those were discontinued for some reason, but that looks like new branding.
Man, I miss Menard's.

My local glassware shop sells these, but sadly no airlocks. Do I need them?
Airlock is only necessary if you're fermenting and need to let gas escape.. and you can substitute with a silicone airlock lid off Amazon or just putting a cloth over the jar.
For canning, airlock is completely useless.
They ship, too! Last year when they were sold out almost everywhere I still was able to get some from Menards. It was great.
mills fleet in alexandria (minnesota) finally getting jars with lids/ rings in too! still no lids only boxes though...
I see no lids there. Consider your jars single use until lids appear.
*Just going to modify this. I actually re-used some lids last year after a good cleaning and sanitizing. Every used lid worked a second time. Can't guarantee it's safety but if lid manufacturers can't get their act together after a year...
I got 2 boxes of wide mouth lids at Menards about a week ago. Looking for narrow now.
I lucked out and obtained two cases of lids prior to the shortage last January as I was planning on having a giant 2020 garden, so I am set for lids. Our local Walmart usually has one case on the shelf, but it only lasts a couple days.
