You’re going to have to sand the entire floor
Looks like you ignored the problem for years before becoming concerned that you destroyed the floor. You owe the home owner for the repair. This is why I no longer own rental property.
Looks like the scratches go down to bare wood, at least in some spots. No easy fix. Floor sander, stain, top coat. Might be able to do a small portion if you can get the stain to match, but refinishing the whole room would be better.
Yeah... It's a rental.
Budget for not getting your deposit back when you move
You could try a floor restoration product in a small spot to see if it helps. Something like Scott's liquid gold. I used a similar product once and it helped to mask some water damage to a wood floor. It not going to fix the issue but might make it less noticeable. I view those products as being similar to the fix-in-a-bottle stuff for cars. It might help you get by for a bit or do absolutely nothing. Cheap enough to try though.
How long have you been there? Not sure how cool your landlord is, but I’d argue that floor scratches should usually fall under normal wear and tear.
Unless the floors were in similar condition when they moved in, there’s not a landlord alive that would let that slide.
Whatever the deposit was, OP is probably getting off cheap on what it’ll cost to fix properly.
