Do CHC weapon mods contribute to the hard cap?

Question

If I'm at the 60% due to gear and mods, does adding a mod to a weapon that increases CHC actually do anything, or is it a waste of a slot?

There is only the Diamondback which can pass the hardcap.... hardcap means hardcap...60% is max..

Really? Didn’t know that, DB is one of my favorites for and all-red dps build

The buff you get that lasts 5s will give each hit a guaranteed crit

Oh that. I thought you meant non-marked targets can have >60% CHC.

They mean it's a guaranteed crit if the target is marked, not that you can get something like 75% crit chance with it

Try using negotiators dilemma with the diamond back

If you are at 60%, the more CHC from any source is wasted.

thats why people dont hit 60, you aim for low 50s and put everything else into chd

That's what I originally thought as well, but after calculating the average damage over an AR magazine, 60% chc won out over 54% CHC (with added 12% CHD) on average.

There's the occasional spike where the 54% CHD could reach a higher max damage per mag, but on average the 60% CHC won out most of the time.

Source: got bored one day and made a mini damage calculator

Static crits assumes that X out of 100 shots are crits and then this is calculated over the size of a magazine or belt, or whatever.

Randomized crits is the reality where each shot has X chance of being a crit and then calculates this over the course of a magazine.

Doesn't include talents though, that would require a ton more work.

Hm. Ok. I think the other thing was coyote mask gives 10 crit chance too so in a 8 man raid that helps.

But yeah without coyote thats interesting. Will have to double check I suppose

Yes they do.

The best way to get the most damage out of your build is to stack CHC mods on the weapon, freeing up more space on gear for CHD.

To those with snarky responses - if I have 58% CHC and add a weapon mod that increases it by 5% and view the overall stats, the CHC remains at 58%. So to me it seems a logical question to ask whether the CHC of weapon mods is therefore hidden and allows you to go over 60% without it being shown in the stats page.

It should make your CHC go from 58 to 60 (technically 63 but hardcap). Massive should make excess CHC go into CHD.

Probably better to stick with 58%. There was a bug at one point where adding CHC over 60% would yield negative CHC. So if you add 5% to 58%, you end up with 63% which was actually 60 - 3 (the excess) = 57% CHC.

Not sure if they ever fixed that tbh :x

Hard cap. Know what that means?

the cap is hard? instructions were unclear, all attachments, mods, and stats, and gear are tuned to CHC

The cap is hard, that means nothing pushes it further. Hard cap. 60% no way above it.
