What an idiot. Geez. The rule is: fully comply, and fight your battle later in court. You will always lose the battle you pick with the cop. Always.

The legality of complying or not gets moot when the gun discharges

Will someone please LOOK.IT.UP. for me? I'm lazy.

Sounds like someone needs a refund from the law school they went to.

So hey, anyone curious, the case is Bad Elk v United States. It found that you had the legal right to defend yourself with lethal action if necessary, if you were stopped unlawfully. That law no longer exists, it’s been whittled away by various legislation for the last 100 years. Anyone still claiming that right read the first paragraph of the Wikipedia and didn’t bother with the rest.

It’s not illegal, just a bad idea. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cop or not, you do what someone tells you when they’re pointing a gun at you

On one hand, you absolutely do have the right to ignore/disobey unlawful orders from police.

On the other, that's a battle to be won in court, not when someone has a gun in your face.
