Guys, we need to form a game plan before the hivemind piles on board with no direction. We need to focus our efforts for this to be effective.
I've noticed that you guys have already started vetting Paul Ryan's opponent and it appears that he is firmly against SOPA. Now, I know you guys want to "destroy Paul Ryan", but I was under the impression that this was mainly about SOPA. Are we going to pressure him into pulling his support for SOPA or are we going to try and destroy him all around? I think this is an important point to clarify. Let me know in the comments.
In my opinion, I think this campaign will be much more effective if we target his support of SOPA specifically... at least in the beginning... if that fails, then we should try and weaken him in a general sense. I think both methods will get the point across, but the more focused our protest is on one thing, the more effective it will be. I believe a general criticism could backfire and look like a partisan attack. This could motivate his supporters.
This is what I propose we do to start... we should call, write, and e-mail and demand that he withdraw his support for SOPA. I believe this is a logical first step. Once this fails (I doubt he will be persuaded by this) then we should get a little more sinister. We can also start donating to his opponent once we are sure he is our guy.
Let me know what you think guys. This needs to be a community effort and we should form a consensus before most of the hivemind piles on-board.
Edit: As Imavoter pointed out, the main focus should be to "Pull Ryan" from office. Now, we should clarify how we are going to make this look like something other than a partisan attack group.
Edit2: Imavoter is on a roll here. this is the plan we need to refine and develop in the short term. Guys... message is key here. We cannot look partisan and have to be focused. Here is another thread from GC about not appearing to be partisan.
