Net meta: assume every player has self revive, so finish every knock

84
Automobilie:lvl1-helmet:•

I'm not looking forward to that, especially early in a match when you can get a gentleman's agreement not to thirst with the enemy team, but if they can potentially pick themselves up no more sportsmanship :c

22

Bro what? You knock and you finish that shit immediately. Who leaves stragglers, especially early game?

8†

if you hear someone refer to a flush as "thirsting" then you're aware of their mindset. completely unfamiliar that they're playing a shooter where a knocked teammate can feed info.

7
allthegoodthrows•

And you're apparently unaware that you're playing a shooter where strategically playing off the knocked player is a FAR superior tactical advantage over thirsting them immediately (because, let's be honest - you didn't kill them out of any kind of critical thinking, you just panicked when you got a kill and your knee jerk reaction is to finish), and then having to face them without the ticking clock on your side.

Most thirsty scrubs I run into are dead themselves within 30 seconds. It's so fucking stupid. Playing the knocked teammate could have completely changed the outcome of these fights... but again... people suck at this game.

1†
Mestyo•

It's an overwhelmingly common situation for me and my teammates that one player gets knocked down, the player that knocked them then commits to finishing them, and as a result gets killed by one of us because they allocated their time and attention to that.

Had they just not gone for the finish, they'd have a fighting chance, but instead they crippled both teams.

Not to mention that keeping them alive and close protects you from nades, and puts time pressure on the enemies who now have to come to you—creating a highly favorable situation for yourself.

Of course you should finish knocks if you really need something from them, or if they could otherwise get into safety, or similar. But generally speaking, that just isn't the case.

5
TEAMxKILLR•

Naw I knock you and you getting thirsted. No reason to keep you alive, so you can potentially get back up and kill me.

4†
Dardanit•

lmao that mindset would work if you would get points for knocking people in ranked but you dont.

If you are in a fight with around 20-25 alive in ranked you cant risk letting anyone alive because that is the barrier of either getting +15 points for placing top 7 or getting punished with -15 points for placing top 8 or above and that kill can give you some points instead of getting fuck all.

1
allthegoodthrows•

Fuck you, you thirsty scrub

You play the knock because that is the far superior strategy many times.

-3
beardedbast3rd•

As if you don’t as it is?

15
PubJeezy•

THANK YOU! The logic behind not executing and using the enemy as bait is so backwards. It's counter-factual. It's totally doable but its the exception and only makes sense in very specific gameplay scenarios, yet it seems to be the most popular strategy.

You win when there aren't enemies left.

Make fewer enemies.

11
Swekins•

There are plenty of scenarios where I will leave a knocked enemy up. If one of my team mates is knocked for example.

28
BruceGrayson•

He said "most" and you're saying "plenty".

Those words ain't the same buddy. Most compares two values while "plenty" is vague. He's saying that the "don't thirst" isn't a real strategy, it's a meme for reddit and twitter. In the game, you should execute MOST of your knocks or you're probably playing it wrong.

1†
beardedbast3rd•

Yeah like, there’s circumstances where it’s better to go help after downing one person, or a couple, but it’s case by case. Looks like far too many people subscribe to this sense of “honor” of leaving people up.

Don’t go run out and get yourself killed doing it, but don’t just let someone get away because you hate getting thirsted

8
PubJeezy•

Looks like far too many people subscribe to this sense of “honor” of leaving people up.

I've literally never had a person say this in game. Not once. I've only heard it as a sarcastic joke after someone gets executed. Context isn't cross platform so now its a real opinion on a forum that doesn't actually exist in the game that the forum is dedicated to.

Reddit is like a funhouse mirror lol.

5
Prancer4rmHalo•

Many times I won’t thirst if I have a downed teammate and they do too. Let’s finish the battle and winner can scoop their team.

Only finish in 1 v 2 or they go crawl for a revive who wants to go through 80 players alone just because yall thirsty

1

I was until the player I would kill off would scream all chat that I was a "salty bitch-ass" or some variant of that statement.

Or "How dare you kill me off in a killing game?!"

0

Not much difference there, lotta thirsty players out there...

1
pborget•

I cannot sufficiently express my hate of self revive for this exact reason.

1
OblongCarrots•

Not against the self revive but it better be rare asf. Hated playing warzone where you need to insta finish everyone unless you want them to get back up 3 seconds later and laser you.

64
RafMarlo:lvl3-helmet:•

Yuk I hate self revive. If you dead you are dead goddamnit.

39
OblongCarrots•

It’s not a totally terrible mechanic. Just as long as it’s in the same vein as having to find a key to get the emergency response kit on Paramo I’m cool with it. If we spawn with it, I’m expecting the map to be rammed with loot to compensate for the fact you’ll likely be dropping back in with nothing

1†
Howizzle90•

If you win in the gulag you come back with your gear

2
OblongCarrots•

Yeahhhh not a fan of that

2
iSamuraiSteam Survival Level 500•

People complain about thirsting now it’s going to encourage it even more lol

4
atomuk•

I much prefer the current PUBG mechanic of when you're dead, you're dead but the self-revive thing in Warzone is not too bad. Usually it's easily avoidable by thirsting and often when you get knocked (not including solo), your team-mate can get you back up anyway just as easily as using the self-revive.

My main problem with that system in Warzone is not the gulag or self-revive, it's the constant buying back of people who have used those chances up, often multiple times.

2
phx-au•

Apex was pretty good with the knockdown shields - you needed a fair commitment to thirst someone, and revives past midgame were pretty high-risk to get your bro back.

For PUBG I'd probably prefer if you get 'killed' from DBNO, then you are in a 'resurrectable' state which can only be done if neither of you have been 'shot at' for like 30 secs or so. So basically if you've won the fight you can run around, pick up your 'dead' mates, and continue.

2
atomuk•

That would work, then maybe you could find an extremely rare defib which you use to get them back. Would also allow people to risk going deep into the blue for team-mates for a bit of risk/reward.

2
chapolinm•

The self revive in PUBG is gonna be a pain in long range fights. If you knock someone 300m away from you, behind a rock and his teammate is 200m to the right... the self revive comes in and bam, you are now fucked cause you rushed his teammate

1
Lindbach:adrenaline-syringe:•

Ugh, i hate the self revive already. I pray they at least keep it out of ranked.

58
OmgNoodles•

Get that shit out of normal games too!

43

hmm...What about making them care package exclusive? I do also feel that it might make Flushing more viable than helping ur teammates.

6
Dad_Rage•

you are able to play ranked? i always end up waiting 20m in the lobby then cancel

4
Lindbach:adrenaline-syringe:•

Im in EU. Im always able to get a game after 20 seconds

5
r3097•

You have to use VPN to Asia or Europe to play ranked.

2
shyndy•

When they said there would be a revive system and there was a gulag I was like well- that may be ok. But that self revive looks awful. Just so many ways that will hurt this game. I can only hope it’s care package only or in some special hot locations and really rara

1
mrwhitedynamiteSteam Survival Level 500•

maybe its only for the new map.

Self revive means i have a reason to flush now and people cant bitch at me about it. What a world we live in!

35
warlordcs:energy-drink:•

when did the term flushing replace thirsting?

10
tommytacos•

flush means to push an enemy into play. for example someone's hidden behind a rock and you throw a molly at it. they move into the open, they are flushed out. people just use it wrong.

6
MankBaby:lvl3-helmet:•

In the context of PUBG, "flush" means to dispose of a downed player the same way you would flush the contents of a toilet. The term "flush OUT", which you provided the definition of, is unrelated.

2
[deleted]•

[deleted]

1
AnimationAtNight•

Flushing has been used for a while. Typically the only people I've heard using thirsted is when they're on the receiving end

1

i've only ever heard flushing. started hearing "thirst" from randoms somewhere sub-50 ADR.

1
mrwhitedynamiteSteam Survival Level 500•

Only 12y olds use ''thirsting'' its just cringe af.

0
FinnishHim86•

2 different terms bud. Flush means (move In/close in) and thirst obviously means (kill and dont leave knocked/no 2nd chance)

-9
warlordcs:energy-drink:•

there are 3 top level comments in this thread alone that based on context imply that flushing means to finish off a downed player.

8
PajamaDadSteam Survival Level 36•

I wouldn't mind if "flush em out, then flush em down" was a saying.

1
shyndy•

It’s what Choco says so I guess it kind of just took over now?

1
PajamaDadSteam Survival Level 36•

I'm not sure that's the common usage.

I've never heard anyone refer to flushing out the enemy or flush as to move in.

I've only ever heard flush as finishing off a knock, like flushing a turd down the toilet.

2
r3097•

People are still going to bitch about it regardless.

Really? A gulag system? The gulag was without a doubt the most stupid gimmick thing in Warzone and will be really immersion breaking for PUBG. Why not do like Apex does it? Have limited respawn locations on the map that can only be used once, which would make trying to respawn your buddies a very intense and satisfying challenge. The gulag will remove all the pressure from the surviving squad, unless they also copy the store thing from Warzone, which I kind of doubt.

32
DeceptiveCreed0702Steam Survival Level 393•

You need to relax bud. It’s just on one map

-17
GrotloSteam Survival Level 500•

This won't ruin the game obviously, but I just highly disagree with doing it this way. It can ruin the map. If this is popular, it will probably spread to other maps.

10
Ranger_Jackson•

Maybe not, pubg seems to be a fan of map specific mechanics. If people like come back from the dead systems, then pubg may implement different ones for different maps. For example the remainder of the team going to a specific location to bring back their fallen.

3
csb249•

I also feel like the Apex style is the most fair and welcomed system. Rewards a team that finishes the other team after someone gets picked off and finished. Would also make them move out of their area (likely) to a station to bring back a team member, potentially pushing more possibility of action and reasons for teams to move. Also, you still lose time since that person then needs to loot or go back to their box. It's still a detriment, but provides a chance. I'm not huge on the gulag but do still prefer it to a self revive, the only thing you simply can't account for through strategy other than "MAYBE this person has an item to get back up but I have no way of knowing." Guess we will see how it is handled.

6
S8what•

Yeah but if you can't choose the map, it's the same shit, you end up having to play more games you dislike, you just end up having more maps for people to dislike, if you are going to remove map selection, you want to avoid extremely different maps because you end up with dissatisfied player base, cos there is no way in hell everyone likes everything. So either it's a dumb, cos if people want gulag and self revive why would they load up pubg and play for 3 hours not knowing if they will even get that map? Especially when there is another game that offers those features. Or vice versa why would someone play 2-3 maps in a row he dislikes? Or it's a move where they want to test the players reactions where if they like it they will add it to other maps as well. IMHO the game was really good in it's original concept (and obviously a lot of others though the same according to the sales). But someone with no clear vision/path took over and it's a fuckfest now.

1
shyndy•

Then it still ruins a map that otherwise looks really great

1
Luffing•

I guarantee it will be on all maps regardless of our feedback.

This is a transparent move by PUBG Corp to try to gain back a more casual playerbase that will not play the game unless it starts forgiving bad play. They don't accomplish that by only having it on one map.

4
Xious-:lvl3-helmet:•

"Battle it out with 99 other players........ well, possibly 150 other players if they win the gulag...... or maybe 200 since they can revive themselves."

28
wazups2x•

I'd say that's a good thing. Makes for a less boring mid-game.

7

the self revive is stupid what is the point of knocking someone if he is about to self revive himself

And the map looks like 8x8 Sanhok, which is far and away the worst map they’ve ever made. Instead of saving the game, I think this will finally finish it off.

I don't know why you're being downvoted - it looks like a reworked sanhok. Little corner island in the north west that has bridges connecting it to the rest. Army Base = Ha Tinh. Go Dak = Camp Alpha. Ship yard = Khao. Airport = Camp Bravo. Song Am = Camp Charlie.

3

I was insanely hopeful that this would blow up the player base in a good way. Now I’m just resigned to playing Tarkov and not much else. 😭

2

No, this dynamic is so wrong. It will demote helping your teammates and raise insta flushes, it breaks fight all along because if you dont insta flush your opponent he will get back and kill you.

Keep that in Warzone not in PUBG, are we going to play lasertag or are you trying to stay unique ?

10
RafMarlo:lvl3-helmet:•

It´s so funny how out of touch the devs are ! They try to reel in players with these warzone mechanics. All they will do is lose all their current loyal players who love pubg for what it is. People that like warzone mechanics will play warzone. Smh

Now pubg is just another wannabe of warzone or apex legends, what happened man once you died in pubg it was over thats why I loved it over any other battle royale games.
