Low effort poem
Ugh.
Well…
Give me a second.
Well…
I am very unwell.
There are metaphors for that
Like dead.
I am dead. But not yet.
Yes.
And
Writing isn’t the same.
I can’t alliterate away
The pain.
Colour’s drained.
I can’t eliminate
Cliché.
Life is meaningless.
It’s worse when you’re broke
Compound interest on a loan
Compounded when alone.
So
This is a low effort poem.
It’s about
Something that has
Already most definitely
Absolutely been said
By somebody more
Eloquently than this.
The best writing seems effortless.
Right?

This is one of my favorite poems that I've read in a long time. You can read it on surface level and laugh along to the silliness of the slapstick self-defeatism. Like why post this? Why even write it? But the surface level doesn't really scratch the hanging cliche of what is so interesting and compelling about this work of art. Instead of talking about sadness the way a poet often tries, you embody it.
You didn't get out of bed this morning. You didn't shower. You called in sick. So why should your poem show up to work on time with a suit and tie?
Love your feedback and analysis search. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts. So glad you liked it! :)
