Huge, grumpy MMC's

Book Request

Help me out folks. I love huge, grumpy mmc's who end up with a soft spot for a sweet, soft fmc. I prefer it if she's just a normal ole girl and not anyone of great importance. I know bad ass girls who can stand up for themselves are cool, but I am a sucker for a soft sensitive lady who needs protection.

I'm on an alien and paranormal kick right now, so that takes priority, but any genre will do. The surlier and more protective the better.

Love you all by the way. Kindred spirits we all are 😔👌

Barbarian's Mate by Ruby Dixon is like this. Actually a bunch of her books have this in the Ice Planet series and her Risda verse series.

{Worse Guy by Ruby Dixon} was amazing <3 "A SciFi Alien Villain Romance" with a beastly, grumpy, devious but mostly quiet guy who becomes fascinated with the FMC and he's super protective of her!

I've read a bunch of her stuff because I love all the alien heroes, but I really hate most of her heroines and I also hate the sort of humorous writing style. Getting kidnapped and sold at an auction or waking up in an alien holding pen wouldn't leave me in a wise cracking mood.

But I really like her sex scenes too so here I am, hating and loving it

Have you read the Dark Planet Warriors books by Anna Carven. A lot of them fit this trope, but the first one is a good place to start with Tarak and Abbey. Tarak is a big, strong alien commander dude.

I’ve read the first 4 and they are all pretty good, very similar to the first. All have great action scenes and nice sex scenes.

They’re good, but do get a bit repetitive. I remember liking book 6, Infinity’s Embrace a lot. And imo, the reading order doesn’t matter too much.

IMHO the first was the absolute best, but I just finished Undying Stars, her most recent release and it was outstanding. Big, Gruff. And Alien. Loved it.

The New Species series by Laurann Dohner. All the books are what you describe. Very grumpy giant paranormal type males who fall for regular girls who constantly need their protection. In the first book, Fury, the FMC can sort of take care of herself a bit, but in the the next 2 books the females are constant in need of protection from the bad guys lol. I’ve only read the first 3 books so far but will read the other 4000 as well, and from what I hear they are all the same....yet I’ve found myself kind of addicted to them lol.

I think the first one is worth it IMO. The MMC is very angry for most of the book. The sex scenes are awesome IMO, however the first scene is quite rapey. There is lots of action & the FMC is trying very hard to care for herself but very much needs the MMC to help her. The second one is worse. The storyline is basically the same though the series (MMC meets human female, immediately likes her and wants to make her his, human is attacked by bad guys & he has to save her while having hot sex), but the MMC’s personality was not my cup of tea. He’s not angry but is obnoxious & it never lets up, the FMC forgives everything he says and does though, she’s also quite helpless. But there are some really funny scenes & funny dialogue. Lots of sex but first time is also kinda rapey. The 3rd book has another angry MMC and a very regular helpless FMC. When they are together the sex seems never ending, but the action scenes are great. Laurann has this strange way of writing sort of grizzly action scenes always filled with disgusting bad guys, almost rape, potential torture in the middle of these campy kinda cheesy romance books. But it works. However do prepare to not take these books too seriously. They are just for fun, you may find yourself rolling your eyes from time to time. Try the first, but be prepared that the second two are worse. I’m still going to keep reading the rest though bc they bring me some level of comfort.

Wrecked Palace by Catherine Cowles is a grumpy x sunshine book with kids, the FMC has to take care of her siblings due to circumstances and she’s so sweet and you get to see the MMC bonding with the kids it’s literally so cute, I adored it. It’s more of an emotional read, it’s the third book in the series but you don’t have to read the other books. I didn’t read any of the other books in the series yet, just the third book. It’s not a steamy book it’s more emotional

Grumpy, near silent hero who just grunts but instantly adores the city heroine as they trek through the wilderness and protects her AND HE'S A VIRGIN AND I WILL REC THIS BOOK UNTIL I DIE

I got half way through and loved it up until that point but it kinda dropped off for me after that.

The cuddling in the sleeping bag bit was just 👌😩 Gave me a girl boner

About 75% of the way through it becomes entirely about their relationship and the suspense plot drops off. Then he gets a phone for her and there's the moment she discovers he's a virgin and his first time in a movie theatre. Sigh. All adorable.

The second book of The Naughty Princess Club series by Tara Sivec fits pretty darn well, while the first one is a bit different they’re both pretty good and pretty darn funny
