Congratulations, you now have a mild room!
* a mold room
You comrade, made me LOL. Thank you.
A place I worked in another life had a habit of storing paper and cardboard boxes in their cold room. It was a moldy oldie coldie room for sure.
I don’t do that and we’ve never had a problem.
Someone hit the switch on the power strip that powered our -20C mini freezer over the weekend, so we lost most of our proteins and antibodies 😐 It was the one freezer not on a battery backup outlet...
Woof, what an expensive switch hit
$11,000, tallied up the total cost yesterday...
And thus, we learn the importance of not having an $11,000 switch.
Oh Jesus no
Why is there are switch to turn of your freezer. Is there any situation where you would actual use such a switch?
Hi friendly labs up and down the hall, we have come to borrow yours for a day, or a month!
Ugh ours too man. I feel your pain
You're welcome for your new room temperature incubator
Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck I forgot to passage my cells
Edit: they don’t look pleased :’(
This is the real reply🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And then after he got sick of it he said "Fuck it, I'm making meth."
Honestly, I'm not too far behind
Stress levels are about the same, and I hear the pay is better
what is this reference?
The actor who plays Hal, Bryan Cranston, also played Walter White from breaking bad.
The joke being Hal had such a bad day, he's decided to make meth instead.
Are you me? I literally just finished autoclaving tips because we were completely out, then got a message that I need to take care of my coworker's cells because she didn't feel like coming in
Did you actually passage those cells? Because I wouldn't have.
You have a way shinier backbone than me. I'm hoping to get her help with another experiment I'm running so i'm trying to stay on her good side for now
Ah ok, that's definitely a tough situation. You just don't want to end up in a position where you're doing other people's work all the time simply because they don't want to do it themselves. I'm all for helping out when other people are overwhelmed because team work and doing each other's work so is crucial to success. You just need to avoid getting taken advantage of and maintain a good balance between team work and just getting stuck with all the work.
You're totally right, it's a fine balance. It becomes very obvious during lab meetings though who actually does the work
LMFAO this is too real. We were out of P1000 tips for *three weeks* straight. no shit.
P200 and stacking uncertainty here we gooooooo
Yep, we switched several brands of P10 tips because every company kept running out. Not to mention the nitrile gloves that keep being out of stock ☹
Why use tips when you can suck it straight into the pipette? /S
We have been trying to get p200 filter tips for months the company just emailed and said we may not get them till next year! We are autoclaving unfiltered tips to do ethanol washes in molecular biology filtered is kinda important!
All our pipets were sent out for calibration at the same time. Just why?????
PLEASE this hurts
This week we have been scrambling because after months of debugging machines everything was suddenly operational, so we had to remember what experiment we were trying to run.
Bryan Cranston?
Oh wow. I love this.
Holy shit, I felt this in my soul.
Hahah this is probably the best cold opening in the entire show and I love it's with lab stuff. Supply chain is no joke right now
Love this!
Oof this hits close lol are you my lab partner?!
And you start your experiment and realise you are out of buffers. Time to panic.
whats the source on this
Malcolm in the Middle
thanks!
God are you in my lab hahahaah
Can relate 🙋🏽♀️
Yak shaving at its best.
This is too real :‘ ) even after not going to the lab for 3 months now, I still feel the anxiety of doing qPCR with unfiltered tips.
When the shift that left before me spent their time making origami cranes instead of cleaning up after themselves or preparing literally anything as they are supposed to do. Error messages on machines that they just left instead of troubleshooting. Then have the nerve to send passive aggressive emails the next day asking why everything was done so late.

Holy shit that’s infuriating. Reminds me of the time I was drowning in time-sensitive work as a postdoc and the lab tech was browsing Facebook and said she’s get to something urgently needed eventually…
