I accidentally denied permission for Twitter content to load, and I cannot find where / how to allow it. Latest Firefox / crappy old iMac.

What's up? Hello~! I recently shifted over to Firefox on my Mac, and got RES all set up the way I like it in the new browser. However, during the initial phase of browsing reddit, when the little box popped up saying I needed to allow permission to access Twitter image content, I accidentally hit 'deny' - so now I can't see Twitter images or video from reddit without clicking out to Twitter itself.

i have exhausted my admittedly feeble searching abilities, looking for where / how to change that setting - so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be eternally grateful!

Thanking you all in advance for your help!

EDIT - u/tumultuousness has provided a working solution below, for anyone else having this issue. Thank you!

  • Night mode: true
  • RES Version: 5.22.5
  • Browser: Firefox
  • Browser Version: 94
  • Cookies Enabled: true
  • Reddit beta: false

If you refresh the page that has a twitter link on it, it will change the icon back to a padlock and you will be able to request permissions again.

Or you could do that with any other twitter linked post: https://www.reddit.com/domain/twitter.com/

If you clicked on disable host, you can enable it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Enhancement/comments/qsxxrr/i_accidentally_denied_permission_for_twitter/#res:settings/search/display%20expandos

Thank you! I can't seem to make it work, I'm sorry.

Here's the screen the link took me to - the Twitter switch is on, and the settings have been saved.

This is what the Twitter items look like when I click the expand button - the text is there, but any images or video won't load :(

Images not loading on Firefox is because the Firefox devs asked the RES devs to remove the styling ages ago. FF is unfortunately the only browser having to deal with that limitation.

You have to use something else to insert the styling. I use this script with the Greasemonkey add on, and I made one change that one of the recent reviews/comments suggested.

Cool! I'll give that a go :)

Thanks so much!

I also has the exact same problem but im on Microsoft Edge. Turn out using "strict" tracking prevention will causes that. Putting here just incase someone has the same problem and stumble upon this thread while searching for the fix like me.

  1. Click on the three dots menu button.

  2. Click on Settings.

  3. Click on Privacy, search, and services.

  4. Click on "Balanced" under Tracking prevention.

EDIT*

Thanks for the gold!

The first link isn't working fyi it's /undefined on imgur. I don't think I've seen twitter images or videos expanded in twitter posts recently. There is only a setting for twimg, not pic.twitter.com, maybe it got fucked when they changed how pictures are handled? Idk.

Ah, sorry - the first pic is just the switch panel from RES.

I think you might be right about it getting borked recently - it used to work fine using Chrome, but I dunno about Firefox.

Thanks so much for your replies - I appreciate you taking the time to help :)

###Common Firefox Issues - Please read below to see if these solve your issue!

Note: Firefox Nightly builds frequently break RES. We suggest if you have an issue and run Nightly please wait a few days as it is most likely a platform bug.

Firefox Enhanced Tracking Notice: Setting Firefox's Enhanced Tracking to Strict or Custom most likely will break RES functionality. Please set it to standard and see if your issue persists.

Issue: When I go to install RES, it says I'm not using the newest version of Firefox. It states I am using 68.0 when 69.0 is the minimum supported version.

Fix: You most likely have privacy.resistFingerprinting set to true in your Firefox config, this sets your UserAgent to Firefox 68 which is below the minimum supported version. Set this to false to resolve the issue.

Issue: Any features requiring login say you're not logged in, or Never-Ending Reddit doesn't work and says "Could not load the next page: page loaded was not for current user". You may also experience issues with Account Switcher, the "My Subreddits" dropdown and page 2 of Never-Ending Reddit shows random subreddits.

Fix: Adding https://www.reddit.com to your cookie exception list and enabling "Accept third party cookies from visited websites" should resolve the issue. Make sure you use exactly https://www.reddit.com.
