Share cropped screenshot of custom screen area

Hi team

I'm looking for a project or plugin that enables capturing of custom size screenshots on my phone, similar to the Windows Snipping Tool on desktop.

The difference is that whereas WST copies the selected portion of the screen to clipboard I'd want to (save it in the background and) share.

There are plenty of Android apps that do this but as always I'd prefer to replace them with Tasker instead.

Once triggered, the task would display a rectangle over my current Android screen. I'd be able to drag or pinch to resize this rectangle, and then hit a button (on screen is fine, eg FAB) to confirm. The task would save a screenshot of the area inside the rectangle only, and initiate the share process.

I know I can do this with scenes, autoinput and autoshare but I am wondering if

  1. anyone has done this already, project or plugin

  2. how much I can achieve in native Tasker only (not currently rooted but ADB permissions or ADB WiFi is doable)

Thanks.

I did something similar in the past (Tasker Scene and WebView element) using a mix of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Java.

If I were You, I'd check (adapt/modify) HTML projects like this one: uiCropper. Live demo here.

I have an idea to take a screenshot and then automatically open it in gallery app, where you can pinch to zoom. Then after pressing the FAB, another screenshot will be taken and shared.

Here you have an example project: Custom Screenshot

Yeah, I think the easiest solution for me was just to automate the steps to reach the crop mode of my own gallery app.

I did manage to create a custom overlay scene where you could drag any of 4 points marking corners of a cropping square to resize it, and then deduce the coordinates and dimensions for a screenshot, but I was not able to animate the dragging in real time and that is a killer to the functionality.

AutoInput Screen Capture has such crop feature https://imgur.com/a/fMCMSRt

Indeed which is why I mention it in my post. However, this requires you to define the coordinates and dimensions, which is useless without the prior steps of the profile.
