[News] More upcoming sunscreen and makeup primer releases from Japanese brands, January–March 2022
Continued from this post. I would just edit that one to add these, but I made the mistake of putting the brand names in the post title for the sake of searchability, so here’s round two. Again, this isn’t comprehensive, and I included makeup primers because makeup primers with SPF and face sunscreens are pretty much lumped together in Japan.
“Waterproof” usually means the product has passed a 40 min. water resistance test and “super waterproof” usually means it’s passed an 80 min. water resistance test, but not always.
- Kosé’s makeup brand Fasio will be releasing Fasio Airy Stay Mild UV on January 16. Inorganic (mineral) filters only, water resistant, SPF 30 PA+++. Just one shade (for now?), “01 Pink Beige.” Also contains olive oil, jojoba oil, safflower oil, shea butter, and sesame oil. It seems like the dry skin equivalent of Fasio Airy Stay Oil Blocker, except that one contains organic (chemical) filters and is SPF 50+ PA++++ and water resistant. 1100 JPY for 30 g according to this article. ETA that RatzillaCosme has added it with its ingredient list here. It’s on the official website here and listed on Kosé’s official online store (with further details) here.
- Albion (Kosé Group) will be releasing a new face sunscreen, Ignis iO Milky UV (SPF 35 PA++, 2200 JPY for 40 g), on January 17. They will also be three limited edition sunscreens with different citrus fragrances, Ignis iO Aromatical Body UV (SPF 30 PA++, 1320 JPY for 60 g), on the same day. One of them is a mini version of this sunscreen.
- On January 21, Meishoku (Momotani Juntenkan Group) will be releasing Medi Shot Wrinkle & White Tone Up UV Base (as written on the bottle) aka Medicated Medi Shot Tone Up UV Base (to make it closer to the Japanese product name) from the anti-aging skincare brand they launched in 2020. SPF 45 PA++++, quasi-drug containing niacinamide and rosemary extract, 3080 JPY for 25 mL. The top, middle, and base notes of its “Aromatic Fleur” fragrance are listed in English in the press release. Press release here, product info here.
- Kanebo (Kao Group) will be releasing Kate Protection EX Lasting on January 22 (source). It seems to be a matte (and hence longer-lasting) version of Kate Protection EX from their The Base Zero series. SPF 50+ PA+++, 1540 JPY for 25 mL according to the source I linked to. ETA that RatzillaCosme has added it with its ingredient list here, and ETA again that it’s on Kanebo’s official product catalogue here.
- In February 2022, Yuskin will be releasing Yuskin Sisora UV Milk EX, a fragrance-free and alcohol-free SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreen (source). Based on the photo of a child with an adult on the packaging, I’m assuming it’s safe for children to use, like their existing SPF 38 sunscreen. ETA that it’s now on the official product catalogue here, and on RatzillaCosme here. 1980 JPY for 40 g. → Packaging photos and photos of the tester on my hand here. There seems to be little to no white cast, but (a) I’m not the best judge and (b) it might look different if I apply the full amount I normally would on my face. Dewy finish but I wouldn’t say it’s greasy, either. Very tempted, but it’s pretty expensive per unit.
- Rohto Pharmaceuticals will be releasing a new line under their Skin Aqua brand with two products, Skin Aqua Nexta Shield Serum UV Essence (source; 1650 JPY for 70 g) and Skin Aqua Nexta Shield Serum UV Milk (source; 1650 JPY for 50 mL). → Found more info; separate post here.
- On February 1, Shiseido’s skincare brand Ihada will be releasing a quasi-drug powder with SPF called Ihada Medicated Face Protect Powder (source; 1980 JPY for 9 g). SPF 40 PA++++. Provides protection from UV rays, blue light, pollen, PM2.5, etc. Contains Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate and m-Tranexamic Acid as active ingredients. Other features include sebum/shine control, making pores look less obvious, contains petroleum jelly to protect against dryness, fragrance free, etc. ETA that it’s been added to RatzillaCosme here, on the official website here, and on Shiseido’s official website (with the ingredient list) here.
- Forgot to post about Jimos’s clean beauty brand Sinn Pureté’s reformulations as of February 1 (source). Sinn Pureté Perfect UV Cream N is now Sinn Pureté Perfect UV Cream a (SPF 32 PA+++, 3740 JPY for 25 g) and Sinn Pureté Perfect UV Milk Protection is now Sinn Pureté Perfect UV Milk Protection a (SPF 50+ PA++++, water resistant, 4180 JPY for 30 mL). I don’t have the specs for what the products before the reformulation were like on hand, but both have inorganic (mineral) filters only and a sandalwood-and-lemongrass fragrance. The milk is also alcohol-free, and while the cream does contain alcohol, it’s toward the end of the ingredient list.
- On February 4, Ípsa (Shiseido Group) will be releasing a color-controlling makeup primer, Ípsa Control Base e, in the colors blue, yellow, and pink (source). (I think this is a reformulation of the existing Ípsa Control Base.) SPF 25 PA++, 3300 JPY for 20 g. Product details in English here. The ingredient lists are on the Japanese page (click on each color).
- Shiseido Medical’s sunscreen brand Sunmedic has reformulated or replaced their entire line-up (three products). “Sunmedic UV Medicated Sun Protect EX a” (2018) is now Sunmedic UV Medicated Sun Protect EX Moist, and Sunmedic Medicated BB Protect EX in Light and Natural (2019) seem to have been replaced by Sunmedic UV Medicated Tone Up Protector (Pink) and Sunmedic UV Medicated Tone Up Protector (Beige). All SPF 50+ PA++++; Sun Protect EX Moist is water resistant and meant for use on the face and body, and the Tone Up Protectors are meant for use on the face. See RatzillaCosme for product details about Sun Protect EX Moist (ETA: and Tone Up Protector). They list the release date as February 5, which I’m guessing probably applies for all three products. (I’ve also noticed that Sunmedic Medicated Sun Spray is no longer on the official website, but it did have the older branding and could have been discontinued earlier.) Photos of the packaging for Sun Protect EX Moist here.
- On February 9, Marks & Web (Matsuyama Group) released a fragranced version of the cream version of their sunscreen, Marks & Web Sun Protect Cream (Lavender/Geranium) (source). This product contains inorganic (mineral) filters only, is alcohol-free, SPF 30 PA+++, specifically not water resistant, and costs 1590 JPY for 60 g.
- Dr. Phil Cosmetics (Kosé Group) will be releasing X-Barrier Protect Repair Balm on February 16 (source). There’s a tinted version and a non-tinted version, and the description kind of reminds me of Tsuda Cosmetics UV Color Balm, except the Tsuda Cosmetics product costs 6160 JPY for 18 g, while this one costs 3850 JPY for 20 g. According to their @cosme listings, the tinted version (“Color Type”) is SPF 50+ PA++++ and the non-tinted version (“No Color Type”) is SPF 45 PA+++. ETA that the balms are now on Dr. Phil Cosmetics/Kosé’s online store here.
- Mash Beauty Lab’s clean beauty brand Snidel Beauty released a new version of Snidel Beauty Illuminating Primer in 02 (Lavender Pink) on February 16 (source). The official swatch image looks more pink than lavender on my monitor. Contains lavender, pink, and silver “pearls” and cica, etc. Makeup primer with inorganic (mineral) filters only. Vegan and cruelty-free (I think), silicone-free, alcohol-free, appears to be fragrance-free (unless I’m overlooking something). SPF 26 PA+, 3630 JPY for 30 mL.
- Albion (Kosé Group) will be releasing a mineral sunscreen, Albion Super UV Cut Non-Chemical Cream, on February 18 (source). SPF 50+ PA++++, water resistant, and 3850 JPY for 40 g according to @cosme. They describe it as having a tone-up effect, by which I assume they mean there’s a white cast. ETA that it’s now on the official website here.
- Albion (Kosé Group) will also be releasing a combination sunscreen, Albion Super UV Cut Protect Milk, on February 18. SPF 50+ PA++++, “super waterproof,” sweat and sebum resistant, protects against dust etc., 3850 JPY for 40 mL.
- Shiseido’s anti-aging skincare brand Elixir will be releasing reformulated versions of Elixir Day Care Revolution SP+ (SPF 50+ PA++++, 3080 JPY for 35 mL; formerly Elixir Superieur Day Care Revolution T+), Elixir Day Care Revolution SP (SPF 30 PA++++, 3080 JPY for 35 mL; formerly Elixir Superieur Day Care Revolution T), Elixir Brightening Day Care Revolution WT+ (SPF 50+ PA++++, 3410 JPY for 35 mL; formerly Elixir White Day Care Revolution T+), and Elixir Brightening Day Care Revolution WT (SPF 35 PA++++, 3410 JPY for 35 mL; formerly Elixir White Day Care Revolution T) on February 21 (source). The Elixir Day Care Revolution products say “Elixir Daily UV Protector” on the tube, and the Elixir Brightening Day Care Revolution products say “Elixir Daily Brightening UV Protector” on the tube. ETA that they are now on the official product catalogue (linked from the product names).
- On February 21, Shiseido will also be releasing a limited edition product from their makeup brand Integrate developed in collaboration with MatsukiyoCocokara & Co., Integrate Flat Skin Maker UV (source). This is an SPF 50+ PA++++ version of the makeup primer from the same series (which is also being reformulated itself as Flat Skin Maker N). It will be available in Matsumotokiyoshi and Cocokara Fine stores (including their online stores). 1320 JPY for 25 mL. ETA that it’s now in Integrate’s official website here and Matsumotokiyoshi’s online store here (with the ingredient list). Photos of the packaging and the tester on my hand here. Don’t mind the fibers from my black sweater. (I did my best to wipe them off, but if you zoom in too closely you’ll probably find some.) Also, sorry about the weird in-store lighting.
- Kosé’s skincare brand Urumina+ will be releasing Urumina+ Pure Glow Oshiroi UV Milk on February 21 (source). It’s a tinted product (Natural Beige) that contains “aurora pearls” and a sebum-controlling powder. SPF 50+ PA++++, friction resistant, protects from pollen etc., Clear Floral fragrance. Like some other new releases, this contains cica extract (among other ingredients mentioned in the marketing). ETA that it’s now on the official website here and costs 1078 JPY for 35 g on the official online store (see listing for ingredient list). And ETA that it’s now on RatzillaCosme here.
- On February 22, clean beauty brand HABA will be releasing three limited edition products: HABA UV Cut 50 (Tint Beige), HABA UV Cut Milk 50+, and HABA UV Cut Pressed Powder 50+ (source). All HABA sunscreens contain inorganic (mineral) filters only. The first is a tinted version of their existing SPF 50 PA+++ sunscreen; the milk is SPF 50+ PA++++ and water resistant; and the powder is SPF 50+ PA++++ and comes in two shades (“Natural,” or beige, and “Lavender”). According to their respective @cosme listings, however, it seems like they may just be rereleases of the products initially released in 2019. And ETA again that there seems to be one more product that was probably released on the same day, HABA UV Kids Gel, which is also a mineral sunscreen, SPF 15 PA++, “natural herbs” fragrance, 1980 JPY for 80 g. I’ve also added links to the individual product pages via the product names.
- Ueni Trading’s brand Aqua Savon, which has a soap fragrance theme, will be releasing a new product in their sunscreen line, Aqua Savon Barrier UV Gel: Watery Shampoo (22S) on February 23, or February 10 from their official online store (source). SPF 50+ PA++++, 1760 JPY for 200 g (pump bottle) or 1100 JPY for 30 g (bottle for reapplication). The smaller bottle has a kind of interesting shape that dispenses the product directly onto your skin, so that you don’t have to get your hands dirty (so it’s kind of like a gel sunscreen that you can use like a stick). The pump bottle will also be available in a limited-edition Cinamoroll design in collaboration with Sanrio (source). ETA that the product is now on the official website: 200 g (ingredient list here), 30 g, and Sanrio.
- Jill Stuart Beauty will be releasing limited edition large sizes of Jill Stuart Everyday Bright UV Protector: White Floral (3520 JPY for 75 g) and Jill Stuart Everyday Bright UV Protector Fragrant Spray: White Floral (2200 JPY for 60 g) on February 25 (source). I initially dismissed Jill Stuart sunscreens as fluff products, but I learned last year that they’re actually in the Kosé Group and are manufactured by Cosme Labo (also in the Kosé Group), so I’m assuming they’re backed by Kosé’s R&D (but I could be wrong). Both are SPF 50+ PA++++. → Correction: I misunderstood the article; the 75 g tube of the former product is a limited edition large size, with the regular size at 60 g, and the spray (which was 60 g last year, too) has been reformulated; ingredient list here.
- Koh Gen Do reformulated their mineral sunscreen Koh Gen Do Watery UV Gel as of February 28. The new formulation increases its “water cushion veil” moisturizing complex by 10%. SPF 50+ PA++++, “waterproof,” sweat resistant, sebum resistant, fragrance-free (I think) and alcohol-free, 3850 JPY for 40 g. Ingredient list here.
- Tout Vert’s sunscreen powders, Tout Vert Mineral Sunscreen and Tout Vert Mineral Pressed Sunscreen, will be reformulated on February 28 and April 1 respectively (source). The former, which is a loose powder that’s available in a shimmer version and a semi-matte version, will now be rated SPF 50+ PA++++ (formerly SPF 50 PA++++), and costs 2620 JPY. The latter was already SPF 50+ PA++++ from before, and I think it contains some additional or different skincare ingredients. The pressed powder is a seasonal limited edition product and costs 3410 JPY.
- Makeup artist Yusuke Kawakita’s brand &be will be releasing a new makeup primer, &be UV Primer, on March 1. Their face-and-body sunscreen, &be UV Milk, seems to be popular in Japan, but be warned that I could find hardly any information about its manufacturer aside from information about a recall of some body care products that contained formaldehyde. (I don’t know whether this primer is also made by the same manufacturer, though.) Inorganic (mineral) filters only, SPF 50+ PA++++, 2750 JPY for 36 g. → ETA that it turns out it’s made by a different company after all. I would still be wary of relying on their products for anything more than incidental sun exposure, though (but that goes for makeup primers in general). And ETA again that I’m not sure since when—February 2022 according to @cosme—but &be UV Milk (both sizes of the Standard version and the Natural Beige version) has been repackaged with no changes to the ingredient lists, and the large pump is now 120 g (formerly 116 g).
- On March 1 and April 1, Le Petit Philosophe will be launching three mineral sunscreens from their vegan clean beauty brand MammaBaby (source). MammaBaby Non Chemical UV Milk (released on March 1) will be available in two versions, SPF 30 PA+++ and SPF 50+ PA++++. Fragrance-free and alcohol-free. MammaBaby UV & Outdoor Spray (released on April 1) is a non-aerosol spray rated SPF 20 PA++, and is fragranced with essential oils. The ingredient lists for all three products are on the press release. The list prices for both of the milks are 2420 JPY for 50 mL, and the spray is 2200 JPY for 80 mL. ETA that the SPF 30 milk is now on the official website here, the SPF 50+ is here, and the spray is here. —And ETA again that I just found @cosme listings for their previous SPF 30 PA+++ and SPF 50+ PA++++ sunscreens, as well as an “Outdoor Body Spray.” I thought this means this is better classified as a reformulation, but then I figured out that these predecessors were from the Italian brand Linea MammaBaby, and the new products do also have the “Linea MammaBaby” logo, too, although the products don’t seem to be available in Europe. They do say the products are made in Japan in the press release, so maybe it’s kind of like Nivea Kao or the Japanese Coppertone. And ETA yet again that the SPF 50+ version is also on RatzillaCosme here.
- Zenyaku Kogyo has released a new sunscreen from their sensitive skin brand Arouge on March 1 (source). Arouge Moist UV Cream is fragrance-free, alcohol-free, safe for babies, SPF 22 PA++, mineral filters only, 2970 JPY for 30 g. It’s on the official website here and (with the ingredient list) here. Quasi-drug with Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate as the active ingredient.
- On March 1, Cogit’s cica-themed skincare brand Cica Method has released a tone-up sunscreen/makeup primer, Cica Method UV Base Milk. It looks like a pink beige color on my monitor. “Essential Herbs” fragrance with essential oils. Recommended for sensitive skin and acne-prone skin. The official website’s product page has the ingredient list. SPF 50+ PA++++, 2178 JPY for 40 mL. ETA packaging photos; manufactured by Cosmo Beauty, and it’s now on RatzillaCosme here.
- According to this @cosme entry, Amore Pacific Japan released Innisfree No Sebum Sun Cushion in Japan on March 1, 2022. It’s listed as being sold out on the official website, though; I don’t know whether that means it’s already sold out (as of March 31) or that it’s not actually available yet. Advertises sebum control (obviously) and tone-up functions. SPF 50+ PA+++, alcohol-free, (I think) fatty alcohol-free, inorganic (mineral) filters only. Ingredient list given in Japanese on the page I linked to. 2530 JPY for 14 g.
- The clean beauty brand Etvos has announced this year’s lineup of their Mineral UV series (which I believe they re-release every year), which will be released on March 2 (source). Etvos Mineral UV Powder will be available once again in Pink Beige and Pale Lavender, but it sounds like they’ve been reformulated (SPF 50 PA++++, 3080 JPY each). I can’t tell whether Etvos Mineral UV Veil (SPF 45 PA+++, 3850 JPY) and Etvos Mineral UV Body Powder (SPF 40 PA+++, 3300 JPY) are also reformulated or just repackaged. ETA that they’re all linked from this landing page, including Etvos Mineral UV Serum and Etvos Mineral UV White Serum, which seem to only be available in the limited edition packaging with this year’s design. There are no changes to the ingredient lists for any of the products (aside from Mineral UV Veil, which I didn’t have an old list to compare the new one with), but I don’t know whether that means there actually is no change or not. The product descriptions do say they increased the amounts of certain mineral ingredients.
- T-Garden’s makeup brand Borica will be releasing a couple of limited edition green versions of their makeup primers on March 2 (source). One of the two products, Borica Long Keep Protect Care Serum Base (Milk Green), is SPF 30 PA++ and contains inorganic (mineral) filters only. The product contains fullerenes, retinyl palmitate, Ceramide NG, cica, tea tree oil, etc. 1980 JPY for 25 g. ETA packaging photos; manufactured by Buoyant.
- Missha Japan has announced that they will be releasing Missha Glow Skin Balm Sun Base on March 4 (source). This is of course a Korean brand, not a Japanese one, but that’s the release date for Japan. It’s an SPF 50+ PA++++ makeup primer that also acts as a moisturizer etc., and seems to be a tone-up product in pink beige. 2310 JPY for 35 mL. Added to the official website here. Alcohol-free, does not contain “Fragrance” but does contain fragrant essential oils.
- Fragrancy released multiple products from their brand Ohana Mahaalo on March 7, according to the official online store. Based on what appears to be the old line-up on the brand website and the brand’s recent tweets, I think the sprays are reformulations and the gels are new products. The entire current line-up says everything is a limited edition and were released on March 7: Ohana Mahaalo Skin Smoothing UV Spray in the fragrances Halia Nohea and Pikake Aulii (both are SPF 50+ PA++++, “waterproof,” aerosol sprays for face/body/hair/scalp, 1760 JPY for 85 g) and Ohana Mahaalo Watery Smooth UV Gel in the same fragrances (SPF 50+ PA++++, no water resistance claims, for face and body, 1760 JPY for 60 g tubes or 2365 JPY for 250 g pump bottles). Halia Nohea is described as a floral/fruity/amber fragrance, and Pikake Aulii is described as a jasmine/fruity/vanilla fragrance. See online store listings for details.
- On March 9, the clean beauty company Mash Beauty Lab’s brand to/one will be reformulating their sunscreen Silky UV Protector as to/one Silky UV Protector EX (source). Product details and ingredient list here. It’s an alcohol-free mineral sunscreen, which I think some people on this sub might be interested in, though it does contain essential oils. SPF 50+ PA++++, 3080 JPY for 40 g (limited edition).
- On March 11, MatsukiyoCocokara & Co. will be releasing a sunscreen from their RECiPEO brand (which is developed in collaboration with Kosé), RECiPEO Moist UV Milk, an SPF 50+ PA+++ mineral sunscreen (source). 1650 JPY for 50 mL, to be available at drugstores in the Matsumotokiyoshi and Cocokara Fine group as well as their online stores. ETA that it’s now on the official website here, on Matsumotokiyoshi’s online store here, Cocokara Fine’s online store here, and probably their respective stores on Rakuten Ichiba too. I forgot to mention it’s fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and protects from pollution etc. Photos of the packaging here.
- Elizabeth (Isehan Group)’s Hare Bare Multi Protection UV Essence (aka Multi Protection UV E N) was repackaged on March 11 (or on March 1 at Tokyu Hands). No change to the ingredient list (confirmed by comparing this photo of the 2021 packaging and the new packaging.) ETA that I’ve posted the ingredient list here.
- Fancl’s anti-aging brand Attenir is releasing Attenir Hidan Bright & Protect Cream on March 16 (source). The press release title calls it a “renewal,” which means it’s probably a reformulated version of an existing product, so I’m guessing it’s probably replacing Attenir Hidan Face Protect Cream. Both are tone-up sunscreens, though it looks like the new version might be more pink beige and the old version looks more pink (based on official photos). SPF 50+ PA++++, water resistant, emphasizes that it blocks long UVA rays, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, 1980 JPY for 40 g. ETA that it’s now listed on the official website here, with the ingredient list here.
- As I mentioned here back in January, La Roche-Posay has released a new product in their tone-up line, which I think is exclusive to Asia (let me know if I’m wrong!). La Roche-Posay UVidea XL Protection Tone-Up Clear aka UVidea Anthelios Tone-Up Clear was released today, on March 17, and is listed here on their official website (landing page here). Don’t be fooled by the awful before/after images on the page, because this line has been one of the most popular face sunscreens/makeup primers with SPF in Japan for years now (first version released in 2018). I find the comparison chart under the before/after images useful: the preexisting Light and Rosy versions (which are meant for normal to dry skin) get 4 stars for moisture, whereas the Clear version (which is meant for combination skin) gets 3; Light and Rosy get 2 stars for reducing stickiness, whereas the Clear version gets 4; the Light version (which is white) gets 5 stars for how much of a tone-up effect it has, Rosy (pink) gets 4, and Clear gets 3; and the Light version gets 3 stars for how natural it looks, Rosy gets 4, and Clear gets 5. SPF 50+ PA++++, fragrance free, protects from pollen, 3740 JPY for 30 mL (and maybe 4840 JPY for 50 mL if Clear also becomes available at that size).
- Jill Stuart Beauty (Kosé Group) released an SPF 40 PA+++ version of Illuminating Serum Primer (which is itself SPF 20 PA++), Jill Stuart Illuminating Serum Primer UV in 01 Pearly Chiffon Dress (pink beige) and 02 Pink Opal Veil (pink). “Crystal Pink Bouquet” fragrance, alcohol-free, sounds like it has a moisturizing formula and probably has a shimmery/dewy finish. More details and ingredient lists on website (click on each color to see separate ingredient lists). 3520 JPY for 30 mL, pretty much organic (chemical) filters only but also contains Titanium Dioxide toward the very end of the ingredient lists.
- On March 21, Shiseido’s skincare line Aqualabel will be releasing Aqualabel Self Barrier UV Milk, a face sunscreen/moisturizer/makeup primer in their new Aquawellness line, which was launched last year (source). They call it a milk, but it comes in a tube and probably doesn’t need to be shaken before use (so possibly more similar to what we typically know as essence sunscreens?). It’s fragrance free and alcohol free (i.e., it doesn’t contain Alcohol aka Ethanol, but it does contain Isopropyl Alcohol late in the ingredient list). There’s some clean beauty-ish language, but I think it probably has both organic and inorganic filters. SPF 50+ PA++++, list price not given (1683 JPY for 45 g according to this article). ETA that it’s been added to RatzillaCosme here, and on the official product catalogue with the ingredient list here. Photos of the packaging and the tester on my hand here.
- On March 21 (or March 5 at Loft stores), Tokiwa Shoukai’s Beauty Veil brand added another sunscreen stick to their lineup, Beauty Veil Cool Touch UV Stick (source). SPF 50+ PA++++, “waterproof,” has a cooling sensation on contact but is menthol-free and alcohol-free, high water content, contains niacinamide, cica, and sodium hyaluronate. Hyuganatsu Citrus Blend fragrance, 1430 JPY for 20 g.
- Shiseido’s makeup brand Gracy released Gracy Hikari Shiage Powder UV in Beige Ochre and Pink Ochre on March 21, 2022. Pressed powder; claims to last for 10 hours with YMMV disclaimer. Each compact contains two powders, one for shimmer/highlight and one for concealing pores and fine lines. SPF 50+ PA++++, fragrance-free, 1980 JPY for 7.5 g (1485 JPY for refill and 330 JPY for puff). Landing page here, official product catalogue listing with ingredient list here (refill here, puff here).
- On March 22, Kosé will be releasing a new sunscreen from their skincare brand Magnifique, which is marketed toward men, called Magnifique Sunscreen (source). I thought about making this its own post, since it sounds like it has a matte finish (which a lot of people seem to be looking for here), but it also says that it has a tone-up effect, though I would imagine it’s likely to be on the subtle side since they’re specifically trying to sell it as a gender-neutral product. It says “Centella Asiatica / Peach / Moluccanus” on the bottle, so I guess they really want to push those as key ingredients. (There are others mentioned in the marketing.) SPF 50+ PA++++, “super waterproof” (which usually means it’s passed an 80 min. water resistance test), milk format, for face and body, friction-proof, blocks pollen/dust/etc., “Floral Woody” fragrance, 1980 JPY for 50 mL. ETA that according to this tweet by someone affiliated with the company, the tone-up effect is from light-reflecting properties (so possibly a slight shimmer?) and not from the color of the product. And ETA that it’s now on the official online store (with the ingredient list) here. I forgot to note that the brand is also new and seems pretty promising to me; they claim to do away with the conventional notion of cosmetics for men (specific examples being the inclusion of menthol and making cleansers needlessly strong) and to take the same care as formulating products for women. There’s an English version of their brand website, but they don’t have the sunscreen on there yet.
- According to their online store, Fragrancy will be releasing a few new limited edition products from their brand Savon & Co.: Savon & Co. Airiest UV Stick (SPF 50+ PA++++, for face and body, 1760 JPY for 15 g) and Savon & Co. Airiest UV Gel (SPF 30 PA+++, for face and body, 1870 JPY for 200 g) in the fragrances Savon de Bath and Savon de Suite on March 22. Savon de Bath is described as bergamot, rose, and cedarwood, and Savon de Suite is described as pear, jasmine, and musk.
I’ll edit this post if I come across anything else that will be released in the next few months, unless it’s from a brand that shows up on this sub a lot and/or involve multiple products (like Allie and Suncut).
Edit: Finally hit the character limit. Moving the edit log into the comments here, and products that cost 4000 JPY or more here. Ingredient list translations will be posted here, and see also this post for better organization.
