A steal at this price, insane value at $250. This is not the usual level of Klipsch you see posted, their RP line (from this series) is their flagship series.
Edit: currently using these on my desk with an SMSL AD18
nah, these still have the typical klipsch issues, forward treble/sibilance/overpriced. I also bought these for my desk and with my 43" monitor hanging off the wall about 14" above the desk, they were still way too tall and even if I put up with the size, they're not good at 4-5ft from the listener. Wondering how you have these set up?
Speakers needing a certian distance is totally a thing. I learned that with my RB-42s which are a great size to put on a desk next to a monitor and they will still sound great. But the mindblowing bass (for their size) that they can produce is not there until you are about 6ft+ away from them.
I was super disappointed when I first played them and they were completely lacking the bass that I was expecting to be pretty great, as I had heard a lot of praise. Then, I sat down on the daybed that used to be behind my desk and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My office no longer doubles as a guest room, so the daybed is gone, but I will sometimes roll back on my chair to listen to a song, to get the full sound.
You really can't use every speaker at a close distance, no matter if they fit on your desk, they may not sound right.
Agreed that they’re massive for a desk, leaning towards overkill, but if you have the space, I don’t think you can do better than this pair for $250.
Mine are sitting on my desk toed-in, 48” LG CX wall-mounted in between; I’m probably 3-4 feet away. Here’s a pic that I’ll probably get flamed for lol Desk with RP-160M
It sucks people downvote correct information just because it isn't enthusiastic about a shiny brand name product. Klipsch speakers are often objectively bad or sub-optimal.

These RP-160M are treble-heavy as you would expect with Klipsch, but they are not as bad as some of their other ones. I returned my last pair because they were so bright and lifeless. It doesn't matter if you can get them on sale, because they still do not out-perform budget speakers from other brands, such as Pioneer, which can provide a better sound while costing way less.
Oof that bump at 15k-17khz.
If they’d dump that horn they’d probably have a more flat response. They’re cashing in on that name and pretty copper drivers. Their high end equipment looks amazing though
It looks like it would perform off-axis, but I just don't think any graph with a dip around 1khz would sound that great for music.
Note, you can order these through Neweggs Ebay and Ebay is 5% cash back this quarter on Chase Rewards
Wow. Insane deal. Normally 150s are on sale for this price.
What would be the best way to use these for a PC or Mac?
Oh these are sick, thanks!
Also happy cake day!
AIYIMA A08
Oh also For Convience! The Loxjie A30 comes with a subwoofer out. If in the future you wanted to add your own subwoofer, while not impossible with the other dac/amps.. having a Subwoofer out that is dialied up and down with the volume of your speakers through the same device is a great thing to have. Otherwise with the other amps if you wanted to hook up a subwoofer you'd have to run a splitter from your source, or run speaker wires down to the subwoofer.
Or get the Loxjie and run a single RCA cable down to your Sub, dial in your sub to match your speakers then at any volume you run up or down on the Loxjie it just outputs the same levels to all speakers.
Yeah when I posted awhile back people were super vague on what I should get so I had to run through tons of videos to figure out what they were talking about.
I haven't tested the Aiyima A08 or D03 in that video. But I do have the Aiyima A07, if you get a solid DAC that's a great speaker AMP (I'm running my IFI ZEN DAC through its pre-outs to the A07 and then to my speakers. Sounds awesome) Plus I get a Headphone DAC/AMP (Not the best in the world but solid for under $200). If I so wish I can hit the bass boost button and pop a bit more bass through my speakers etc.
So IFI Zen DAC out into A07 would be about... $200 then those speakers are on sale for $250 so $450 for a desktop system that down the line you could upgrade any one of those components 'if you so choose' otherwise a solid setup. Or get the DAC/AMP combo and not worry about two different modules on your desk.
Can I power these with a headphone amp? I have an SMSL Sp200.
No, you need a lot more juice and it won't have the proper connections.
These speakers are passive speakers. That means their internals are only able to recieve signal and power through traditional speaker cables which need to be powered through a Speaker amplifier.
the SMSL Sp200 doesn't have the connections/speaker terminals that can pass the signal/power out through a speaker cable. Therefore you need a speaker amplifier.
I assume if you already have a Headphone amp you have a proper DAC with it? You could potentially run out from your DAC to a Speaker amplifier (Like the Aiyima A07 $70) and then run out from the A07 to these speakers. or get an all in one DAC/AMP combo in the Loxjie A30, Aiyima A08 or Aiyima D03.
A USB DAC and preamp with analog outputs connected to a amplifier or receiver of your choice. Don't try to take the shortcut of connecting your motherboard directly to a receiver, you'll pick up loads of noise from the computer that will be obvious at near field listening distances.A Schiit Modi or Fulla if you ever use headphones would be sufficient

What kinda things are you plugging your receiver into to encounter that problem? O_o
Like, sure I get it if you're buying a $3000 set of speakers and a $1000 receiver, yea what's another $100. But for a setup like this? For reals? At that point I'd kinda think the only thing a DAC is adding is a little bit of snake oil.
Especially since AV receivers have DACs already built in.
I’d recommend trying it out first. I have my htpc going to a Yamaha as501 just fine.

Even a low level board won't have perceivable noise.

On a desk? Don't. Save yourself some money and get a set of smaller powered monitors. They'll give you a better experience on a desk.
Speaker rookie here, this might have the same answer as the other question in this thread, but what is the best way to connect these to a pc setup with a 4k TV in a living room?
Edit: after doing some reading online, AV receiver could be good? is this true and does anyone have recommendations?
Start reading tutorials at avsforums, but be warned: it's a rabbit hole. A good rule of thumb is that a home theater needs an equal budget between the audio components and the tv. So If your tv was 1k, get a receiver and speakers. If your tv was $300, get a sound bar and call it a day.
I didn’t know this was a rule. I just added up my audio gear and it looks like it’s almost the same as my tv so I guess I’m doing it right.
I've been trolling on AVS for a number of years and I've never heard this "rule".
TVs are so freaking cheap, and everyone's needs are different... I think it's kinda loose. I have a 55" 4K TV that's pretty solid for an entry level 4K set - was only $500 bucks on black friday. I have well over 5 grand into my audio. Does just fine, lol.
Hmm I’ve never heard of that rule but now it’s got me thinking, I have a Samsung Q80T and so far I just have a Samsung Q6T sound bar so it pairs with the TV using their Q-Symphony feature. If I wanted a real audio setup what would you recommend? Sort of feel like my soundbar is inadequate after reading that hahah
I mean it depends on your space and your sound bar. A sound bar with satellite speakers and a subwoofer is a surround sound system and not much different from avr+ discrete speakers.
Yeah you can use an av receiver. I have just a stereo setup so I’m going through a Yamaha as501.
For TV/home theater, you should go AVR IMO. This gives you expansion options, proper surround decoding, and easy connection options.
I roll with Yamaha gear personally, but Denon has some decent entry-level amps and the cheapest new AVR you'll find will probably be the base Sony. Costco often has a Denon and Yamaha model on sale, and those are typically re-branded versions of their lower mid-tier AVR offerings.
My go-to for audio gear is Crutchfield. Smaller company, top-tier customer support, free two-day shipping. Purchased from them since they operated solely out of a catalog and never had an issue.

Can anyone recommend decent desktop speakers for ~$200?
So I was originally considering a pair of studio monitors because I have a Focusrite Scarlett that I use as a DAC, but these seem extremely good for the price. I was originally looking at like the Mackie mr624s or the Adams T5V. Is the sound quality increase significant enough to justify buying an amp to pair with these on top of the speakers?
I would advise against using these as desktop speakers or monitors. That is not what they are designed for. These things need some room in order to get the full enjoyment. They need to be in a medium to large size living room, on stands, and placed a good bit (like a foot) away from the wall to get the best sound. I have the newer version of these the RP-600M and with proper amplification they get very loud.
They have the Klipsch sound of course. They don't sound great with pop music or anything over processed as the highs will just be too sharp. But live music or anything with real vocals and real instruments sound great.
