So funny! I wonder if they’re the same kids? I used the ones in my direct neighborhood and then the ones who rode the school bus with me!

Mine and my brother’s are included in your list, plus 4 others, but complete matching sibsets.

Gay? Like Gaygay? Or pronounced like Guy?

I LOVE the name Joel.

FraughtOverwrought•

I assume it’s Gay, well established female name that went out of fashion a generation or so ago in Australia at least

2
Alex122019OP🇺🇸•

I’ve never heard of that, interesting!

Vicslickchic•

I like Joel too. It is kind of unique today, not used much. Gay was actually this kids middle name that she went by. First name was something with 3 syllables .. can’t remember exactly. It sounds weird today, given that Gay has a different meaning now. But yeah, it is pronounced like it is spelled!

On my street: Shirley, Josh, and Melissa. Amanda. Yvonne. J.J., Jorge, Priscilla and Kitzia. Briefly a family of a few kids, though I only knew the names of Blue and Lenwood (Lenny). Carmen, Crystal, David

Elementary school: Keisha, Cynthia, Tasha, LaShawn, Marco, Kenneth, Ronnie, Vanessa, Taurean,

High school: Zacarias, Olivia, Mireya, Jesus, Anahi, Elias, Marvin, Seth, Camille, Victor, Cara.

Alex122019OP🇺🇸•

Interesting! Lenwood is definitely unique. People on here would rake that name over the coals, but I’m sure it was just accepted by everyone as a kid.

Any info on Kitzia? Never heard of that one before

1
BureaucratGrade99•

Lenwood and Blue were brothers, so definitely from parents who favored less common names. They were both born in the 80's (if I had to guess Blue was 1982ish, Lenny 1987ish).

Kitzia's parents were from Mexico, and the story was that it meant princess or something (she was definitely the princess in that family, anyway!). I haven't seen any clear info on the name online. She was born in the late 80's. Siblings were Jorge (older) and Priscilla (younger).

I love Tessa, Allie, and Jessi(e). Ashley also has a special place in my heart even though it was so trendy back then.

Did any of these kids ruin these names for you?

2

Not really, they were all pretty nice! Maybe Shelby, she just had such a strident personality 😂

Allison, Chloe, Molly, Jillian, Whitney, Ashley, Sydney, Ashton, Brenna, Kelsey, Connor, Tanner, Hunter, Jacob, Grant, Nicholas, I'm from the South. Kelsey and Sydney used for boys and girls but the boys always went by their middle name.

I lived in Tennessee for like five years and was so surprised by how often guys went by their middle names!

Jealous! Everyone wanted to be in cali in the 90s haha. I like Dani for a girl tbh, it’s sort of edgy but sweet at the same time.
