We bought our first house and it is totally a blank slate. We’re getting used furniture as much as possible to save money. We ended up getting a dark gray couch from a family friend and I’m not sure exactly what color curtains to get for the living room. I have zero eye for this kind of stuff. I’m worried the dark gray will make the room feel .. heavy?

Would you go for a neutral solid color?

Here are some pictures of couch and space. The room pictures are staged from the real estate listing.

We’re moving in about 5 weeks, I’m worried about how overwhelmed and upset my toddler (2 years, 3 months) will be during this process. We’ve started packing slowly so it’s not an all-at-once-everything-is-gone thing for her. We have a book about moving that we read to her every night (but I don’t think she gets it at all).

We’ll be driving 13 hours to the new house. We’ll be doing it overnight so hopefully she sleeps through most of it.

Any other tips for how to make this as easy on her as possible, before, during, and after the move?

Thanks!

Could you guys give me the pros and cons of siblings sharing a room vs having their own rooms at a young age? I have two daughters, 2yo and 5m and we’re in the process of buying our first home. Thanks for your input!

I’m interested to hear what the kids in your neighborhood were called. I grew up in a city in the Northeast region of America, there were a lot of kids on my block.

Here they are:

Kiersten and Stephen; Alphonso; Caron and Amanda; Haley and Carry; Sarah and Abby; Jon, Jen, Janine, Jill, and Jackie; Summer, Brooke, and Skylar; Danielle and Eli; Kyle and Cody; Mike, Laura, and Danny; Steven, Katelyn, Matthew, Billy, and Tricia; Felicia, Darlene, and Tiffany; Andrew and Kyle; Stephen and Micheal; Kevin and Reina; Craig

We’re done having babies, we have two daughters: Alexandra and Juliana. I love their names but I am a little sad I’ll never use any of the other names I love. :,)

Here they are, released back into the wild:

Valerie, Summer, Elena, Sonia, Nadia, Vera, Nikolai, August, Lev, Dmitri, Daniel, Jude, Jonah

Goodbye, sweet loves ~
