Takes the “eccentric collector” aesthetic to a whole new level.

It feels like there's a lot more house on the inside then there is on the outside.
It's like a House of Holding.
Or like the inside of Mary Poppins' bag.

It's like there was just a regular house and then a consignment store threw up in it.

Whoever designed this has been developmentally frozen at about the age of 5 by some horrific trauma.

The owner pinned all of those butterflies omg. Just a haunted house of butterfly corpses.

Odette3•

Probably not. They probably bought them like that.

There is also another picture of the same room WITHOUT the bugs. I do not understand why you would post the picture with the bugs. I do not want to own a house with a bug room jfc.

Looks like they also mopped the floor in the second pic. I thought it was simply the way the tiles looked but it turns out they're just filthy as hell.

i don't think i could ever use that bathroom in its current state. why didn't they just use the empty picture? the whole house is too much of everything & none of it makes sense. ornate crap everywhere and a granny patchwork quilt & clothesline with clothespins on it. wtf? i felt like i was having a flashback to the one and only time i dropped acid in 1969. why is it ALWAYS texas?

I actually love their decor sans sad dead butterflies.

They have my dream bed too - can't find canopies like that anymore!

This was probably their retirement home so it's jam packed with everything from a larger home.

Ahhhh that makes sense! I was wondering why they had so much stuff!

My mother moved into a retirement village and it looked just like this place.

Definitely an antique canopy bed.

Seems to me that they went on their retirement splurge trip to Europe to buy ALL THE ANTIQUES and then forgot how small their retirement home was. 🤦‍♀️

LoL, if you're buying furniture abroad and shipping that crap back to the US, you'd be living in a nicer retirement home because $$$$$$$.

Honestly, this looks like a lot of retirees who don't know how/don't want to condense their possessions after they downsize their home.

I can’t even physically see pictures with this much hdr. I hope this fad dies soon

It almost looks like they used to live I. A huge English manor and had to downgrade. The butterfly room creeps me out.

I'm assuming the owners don't cook much. The kitchen does not match the rest of the house.

Look again - is that a broken smoke detector on the ceiling? There could be a really good reason why that kitchen is all cleared out.

durgadas•

I bet the first truck moving that house was ONLY filled up with stuff taken from cabinets and drawers.

Butterfly crime scene 🎶

No one ever saw the previous owner again. It was as though he had disappeared from the earth without a trace. They sent out search parties, but no search party ever went where he had gone. No one could have ever found that deep, dark place in the woods where the butterflies had put him, pinned against a tree, part of their human collection...

Getting "it puts the lotion on its skin" vibes.

You can barely see the actual house properly with all the clutter

3
BBG1308•

All that stuff is making my eyes bleed.

And even if you peel away all the stuff, it's yet another house with a windowless kitchen.

BeautifulGlove•

looks like a house right out of a Toscano magazine

The local frame shop owners made their entire living off these folks.
