2 Triolets
Hello everyone! Last week I posted 2 Paradelles (1 and 2) and now I'm here with 2 Triolets! A little about the triolet: it's a French form popularized by Wendy Cope (at least to my knowledge but also Wendy Cope is super awesome and you should definitely read her works) that follows this scheme: ABaAabAB where the capital letters are repeated lines.
The first:
I'm going into this new year
all twisted and confused.
Full of doubt, devoid of cheer
before entering this new year.
I'm starting to worry, beginning to fear,
my heart all torn and bruised.
I'm dreading going into this new year,
because I'm all twisted and confused.
And the second, which I wrote as a poem for/about my current Dungeons and Dragons character (so definitely a much different tone than the first):
With dance of sword and spell alike,
I'll fight on til the very end!
I'll never yield, instead, I'll fight
With dance of sword and spell alike.
With great nimbleness I'll move and strike
With blade and wand to guard my friends.
With dance of sword and spell alike,
I'll fight on til the very end.
