5 Day "Long Slow Run" Training Camp Shoes, Adistar vs Invincible. vs ?
Edit: ended up finding Invicibles for cheap at Nike Outlet near me. They’re great. Not very sexy or exciting to look at, but the hype is real for super comfy long slow runs.
Next month I'm renting a cabin in the Methow Valley here in Washington to do some long slow zone 2 ROAD runs for a week. Maybe some trail, but probably not. Planning on 2-3 hour slow runs each day.
I just grabbed a pair of Gore-tex Pegasus Trail 3's to replace my Wildhorse 7s for my "do it all" shoe - road, trail, treadmill. I live next to a trail system, but I do a lot of road and treadmill work, so it doesn't make sense to keep using these off the trail.
I've had my eye on the Adidas Adistar but nobody near me has them in stock, or any Adidas really. Reviews I've found range from "chonky, but better than we expected for long slow runs" to "way too firm" with that heel puck.
Should I consider the Boston 10 over the Adistar to get me through spring and early summer? No races planned, maybe by the end of the summer a HM or M or Ultra.
Also had my eye on the Nike Invincible as praise seems to be pretty universal. But I don't love their design aesthetic or price, but they are on sale.
Should I also consider the Pegasus 38 and then just use those for everything road and treadmill, fast and slow?
This spring and early summer I'm really focusing on getting my HR down so, focusing on Z2, and having a nice cool comfy shoe to entice me to be consistent with these runs is important. I'm not interested in $250 racing shoes.
I am a pretty neutral foot striker so I'm not too worried about the Adistar's chonky solid heel, and I love the way they look, but I am still looking for something to compliment my trail shoes for "dedicated" road running at least for the next few months.
Anyway, thanks.

Got the same questions as you. But today saw nike has 20% additional discount and grabbed invincible for $98
Good call on the 20% off at Nike. Just picked up my third pair of Invincibles.
I bought tempo next % too for 123 😂
Simultaneously saying thank you for the heads up and damn you. Just bought a pair of invincibles to stash away until my marathon training block starts this summer.
Oh mah gerd
