I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. It's a perfect "Bachelor Chow." Not soggy, but crispy and fluffy yummy goodness.

That looks awesome!

The link to the original post doesn’t work for me (might be because I’m on mobile); in case anyone’s in the same boat, I think I found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Old_Recipes/comments/tt2xxx/pillsburychili_cheese_dog_casserole/

Wondering how leftovers would hold up. Asking for my 22-yo son who needs to start cooking instead of doordashing lol.

I just had some leftovers of this for lunch. It does not have the out-of-the-oven crispness, but the crescent rolls are not soggy (they are soft, though). It's worth it for leftovers.

Based on similar recipes, probably would be soggy but still delicious. But I personally love good mushy leftovers lol

[An image of a "Chili Cheese Dog Casserole". There is a glass tray with 2 rows of 4 sausages in it, all the sausages are wrapped in what appears to be pastry and there is cheese coating the tray. It has been cooked so the cheese is melted and the pastry a golden brown.]

If I ever marry and have kids, this is what I’m feeding them on the weekends I have visitation.

Can you be my new dad?

Are you already assuming you would get divorced?? Lol

6
Daheavyb•

Totally! No way a current wife would let me feed that to the kids.

I feel like I can taste it just thinking about it!

that looks so yummy!

I’m tempted to try this Cincinnati-style, with cans of Skyline, mustard, onion and loads of cheddar cheese

With spaghetti instead of hotdog buns?

Incidentally, I think a Cincinnati chili casserole made baked ziti-style would totally work. Pasta, chopped up hotdogs, and Skyline chili topped with mustard and cheese (and onions, I guess *yuck*)...I'm in.

We also use Cincinnati chili for cheese coneys (AKA a chili cheese dog). I’d say it’s at least as popular as 3, 4 or 5 ways, if not more!

This past Sunday was National Pigs in a Blanket day, which would work nicely with this meal. If you would like to "elevate" it, try using a sheet of of pastry cut into long ribbons and wrapped in a spiral around the hot dogs. Brush them with a little beaten egg and you can sprinkle them with toppings. I used pretzel salt on half and everything bagel seasoning on the others.

My husband would wholeheartedly approve!

Oh man I’ve got to try this. The entire pan is one serving, right? :D

I would enjoy this. Heartburn and diarrhea be damned.
