Got these bad boys for only $80, one season of use. Gonna be a great substitute until I get the Enforcer 104s 😀

Hi :P

I'm the seller from OfferUp, funny seeing my old skis here.

These were purchased in March 2020 (3 days after the covid closures). They were mounted in a ski shop that had the telemarks on them, unused. I was on a long ski trip that obviously got canceled and I had the bright idea to go into all of the ski shops that were closing down very early for the season. I scored these unused but mounted once skis for like $280.

I still had my Line Supernatural 108s with plenty of life so I stayed on those until I beat them to a pulp.

I switched to the QST which was sitting in storage "all of those years" at the beginning of this season.

Actually, there is only just under a half-season on them at 38 days (I had a fun year on the Ikon).

Hope you get good use out of them!! Make sure your demo binding will fit around the pre-drilled holes before you order the binding (or just have a good return policy).

Ngl I had a feeling this would happen. You seemed like you were gonna be on this sub :P

How does it feel seeing your babies on Reddit like this?

SanDiegoMitch•

Ha, ya that kinda surprised me

Mounted twice in one season? I wouldn’t believe the seller personally. The skis themselves are at least 3 years old (pre-2020 design) so I have a hard time believing they’ve only been used for one season, let alone “lightly” used based on some of the top sheet scratching and chipping. They should work okay and at $80 it’s a fine price, but something about this screams false advertising.

YoshableOP•

Well one was a telemark binding and one was a regular pivot binding. The top coat scratching is really light and was due to being cluttered with other skis and gear in his ski box. I was also skeptical initially but there's really only one bad gash on the bottom, and that can be easily repaired.

That's a goddam steal Mount them up and ski the shit out of em enjoy your purchase everyone else can shut up a good time cost $80

billbrown96•

How much is left in the edges tho? My skis look fine, but they can't be sharpened any more cuz the edges are so thin now.

8
Brijardizzle•

It takes more than a few edge grinds to wear your edges away completely.....

32
billbrown96•

That's what the rocks are for! They're freeride skis so I hit lots of shit and then need an aggressive grind to fix it. Only had two grinds done but after 150+ days on them they're toast.

7
SaSkiBum•

I’ve never done an edge grind, i just make sure any burrs get filed off. Two seasons later and my edge is about 50% gone, it’ll start coming loose at 75%. It really doesn’t take that long.

1
YoshableOP•

Edges actually look like the best part of the whole ski lol. Very little rust, still pretty thick

3
granath13•

It doesn't really matter what was on there, holes in the ski are holes in the ski. It allows an entry point for moisture and can cause core rot, regardless if it's been sealed with epoxy or not. It seems you're only planning on using them as an intermediary until your new sticks arrive so you'll probably okay, but I personally would not ski on them more than a few days and definitely not as aggressively as I usually do.

-6
YoshableOP•

If you don't mind me asking, how would moisture get in if the holes are sealed. Isn't that the point of a seal?

7
stan__dupp•

It will take ten years before that ski rots out don't listen to the scared peeps ski it and enjoy if it breaks you are out 80 bucks

7
granath13•

Different materials expand and contract at different rates for a given temperature. If the epoxy was installed at 70 degrees, the ski and the epoxy are set to fit together at 70 degrees. Once you bring the ski onto snow, let's say 30 degrees, the amount that the epoxy shrinks relative to the core of the ski (and different materials in the ski core, for that matter) can affect the seal. It's a decent solution in the short term, but over time the epoxy can lose it's adhesion to the ski as well. How much the ski flexes also has a similar impact.

Edit: that's not to say it won't work for a season or even two, but I would hesitate to ride long term (more than 2 seasons) on any ski with a remount, let alone 2 mounts.

In my opinion 38 days is pretty well loved, and for a lot of people that's 3-4 seasons worth. While the 1 season comment may be true, that depends a lot on who the person is. I typically ski 30-40 days per season so 38 days is a full, solid season and if you're skiing that much I have a hard time believing your definition of "lightly used" is the same as everyone else.

-5
SanDiegoMitch•

This is why I stated "They have 38 ski days over 1 season on them." in my ad.

I never stated lightly used (although yes, I consider them lightly used)

13
granath13•

I never saw the original ad, and your post in the comment wasn't clear if it was the original ad or if you were just clarifying some information.

Who gives a fuck bre let the man enjoy his $80 skis. That's a steal if you ask me!

10
vanrileysax•

Looks like a look pivot and then some touring binding. Judging by the hole patterns

2
granath13•

tele and pivots, seller mentioned somewhere in this thread

1
TrulleNs•

My experience of the salamon QST line is that they chip like day one, my pair used two seasons are extremly chipped in the front. So I definitely would beleive the low wear argument in that case.

Edit: Spelling corrected

They've only been mounted twice come on now.

mikemarmar•

😁 just teasing. Nice score

11
LivingWithWhales•

Lmao no. Easily safe to mount several more times.

nothardtobeperfect•

Skis only have a lifespan of 3 mounts due to structural integrity- not to mention you run out of decent spots to mount

11
norcalnomad•

You fill those spots with chopped FG and epoxy and it's strong than the wood core that was there before.

4
abazab905•

I tried steel wool and epoxy last time. What is FG?

2
inkerbinkerdonner•

This is so wrong lol this sub has absolutely no idea

4
LivingWithWhales•

It’s facepalm central

1
LivingWithWhales•

Not true at all. I’ve used skis that had 5-7 mounts and not had issues, and I log 120+ days a year at work.

2
bare_cilantro•

Does look like these possibly have inserts so OP can possibly re use a toe or heel mount

1
abazab905•

Lol I love these skis. Wanna sell them to me after u get the enforcers :)

6

You'd be mount #4 🧀

Yea the dude got a full free ski package, so he sold these cheap just for the sake of someone using them rather than having them sit in storage

9

Only $2.50 per hole!

These have been my favorite ski of the last 4 seasons. I also skiied black crow atris, Scott scrapper 115, faction dictator, Commencal clash, k2 koombas and k2 Pinnacle 95. They had the best mix of what I was looking for. Stiff enough to charge aprons but just enough fun tip and tail to be more playful than dictators. Loved the pop on them. Just enough side cut to make turns that aren't 30+mph. My only complaint is that the edge fell apart way too easy.

3
BoringUser1234•

I ski these and fuckin love em so much, enjoy!

LivingWithWhales•

Score!

congrats dude!

Nice! I have the QST 99s from that generation and I've loved them. Friend of mine has these 106s and he loves them too!

2
BulaBus•

I also have the 99’s. 188’s and they are honestly my go-to for almost every condition/day. I’ve never loved a ski more.

3
FrismFrasm•

That's great feedback! My QSTs are my first ever modern, non hand-me-down ski; so I don't really have anything to compare to haha.

2
BulaBus•

Ya honestly I love them. I really have no need to buy a new ski unless I wanna get super specialized. Ultimate hybrid ski, even tho that’s not necessarily how they’re advertised. They’re fat enough for most powder, but you can still lay rails. Hybrid almost doesn’t do them justice, bc it’s not that they are competent in most conditions, they actually excel at them. Only pair I’m considering adding for next year might be a new pair of Rossi’s, but I definitely don’t need them.

2
FrismFrasm•

Awesome! Yeah I love them, have had mine for 3 seasons now and have used them in basically every condition other than heavy, real back-country powder.

I have seen people criticize them for being a little soft and floppy before; do you not find that?

1

Lucky!!!!

2
MerchantDrip6•

I have these. Bought them at Turkey sale whistler the year after they came out. Still cost me 680$ brand new. But they are solid man, they plow through anything. I use them on 10cm plus days, and basically have been using them all April.

More snow this April than we had all Feb/March this year. My best pow days this year are April, go figure.

Enjoy those man, they are great.

Anyone else use enforcers and QST’s? I almost bought qst’s and a buddy is really pushing enforcers. Thoughts on differences?

0
Master_Winchester•

Enforcers are much heavier therefore tougher in trees and steeps. But they go faster and crush cruddy snow to bits. So it depends how strong you are and what terrain you ski.

4
normalman2•

Havent skied QSTs but I give a +1 to the enforcer 104 frees. Stable, cut through crap, nice damping, turn well in moguls, great for most snow conditions, and for a wider ski, they carve the hell out of groomers.
