One of the most influential bands ever. When they started touring again I was ecstatic. Absolutely amazing every time I’ve seen them play.

I was in the balcony of the Orpheum in Boston 2014 . Thought the balcony was going to fall off it was shaking ! Great show!

I'm old, and one of my favorite concert experiences was seeing the Pixies play in a little club in Providence (the living room) just as they were beginning to get attention on college radio. Maybe late eighties -- the summer after Surfer Rosa came out.

(sorry, I don't get many opportunities to bring that up, and it is always nice to remember the occasional non-bad choices I made in my youth)

edit: I still have the "Death to the Pixies" t-shirt from that show, but it no longer fits me so my wife wears it.

I played in a band called Miracle Legion in the late 80s. One night we were playing CBGB, and our friends, Throwing Muses were playing The Ritz a few blocks up. We finished our sound check and wanted to go see Kristin and Tanya et al, and we knew this band called The Pixies was opening, and they had ALL the buzz then. The Muses toured in a Winnebago so we were hanging with them outside The Ritz when this short-haired, pretty awkward guy came in. Kristin said "Hey, Charles" and introduced everyone. A short while later we went in to catch their set (our gig was later) and honestly I've never been more "blown away", if you will. It was like a buzz saw. They played like their lives depended on it. I was an instant fan and watched them grow to become one of the most influential bands in rock. Still some of the most solid songs ever (though I'm less excited about the reunion music and recordings). I'll be hopeful for this one, recorded just miles from me at the greatest recording studio open secret in the world, Guilford Sound.

I could be wrong, but I have a strong feeling that I remember Miracle Legion. I listened to a lot of radio back then -- WBRU mostly, but also whatever school-based station I could pull in. Portsmouth Abbey had the station that introduced me to the Beastie Boys (they played only Cookiepuss for an entire night)

Saw them at the Flynn a few years back. Great show

Hoping this times the charm!

These post Pixies reunion albums have been utterly forgettable. Hard to believe with the original incarnation and the entirety of Charles' solo output being solid gold.

Frank Black’s solo shit is ten times better, and it’s not even close.

::prepares for barrage of downvotes for this humble opinion:::

I didn't watch the whole documentary -- did they ever play any surprise shows while they were recording?

Where is my mind????

Apparently it’s in Randolph with the rest of me

Have they released anything worth listening to this century? Love the albums everyone loves but at some point you’ve got to hang up the hat, right?
