The Ocean and Its Empathy or Lack Thereof
Does the ocean ever think of us?
Are we ever a colonial thought within its foundation?
I think of aliens like 5 times a day
So to say that the ocean doesn’t think of us is unfounded
Parasitic? Cohabitators? Are we just an unknown?
Did we ever think to ask the ocean what it feels about us or is it because we don’t speak the same language that we shift the blame to their predatory natures
While ignoring ours
Does it understand how far and wide the land runs and that, although it’s the majority, we occupy space too
We call the ocean deep but there’s things on the surface that they too don’t quite understand
Does it understand how finite it is? That one day the water will run out and it too will be us
Do they not see the obvious within us?
That across its miles of blue transparency We are one and the same
So i ask again, does the ocean ever think of us?
No.
But it is us.
And that’s a comforting thought.
