Memories
I turn the kitchen light off
Slink on through the hall
Sip chamomile tea
And stare down at the wall
Assure myself that I’m ok
Though I just wanna bawl
Then to my room I’ll creep
Into my bed I’ll crawl
When I turn the light on
You won’t be there to call
That’s when I remember
I’m not ok at all
It’s just a part of life
And it’s ok to fall
When the morning rises
I’ll feel 10 feet tall

Love this poem! It’s depressing, relatable, but has an uplifting ending that just gives you that extra something you need to keep going. The rhymes are simple, subtle and nicely done, not taking away from the poem in the slightest. In fact, just adding to that homey feeling. The verses are of a consistent length which adds to that atmosphere and everything is in one stanza! Good one!
Awww thanks so much I appreciate that, I’m still trying to balance complexity with a simple touch so hopefully I can keep adding to them yet keeping them compact as I write. I appreciate it
