Are there any local left-wing socialist/communist organizations/chapters in Tucson?

I'm currently a member of several communist parties but when it comes to real, offline, boots-on-the-ground organizing/action, I don't see a whole lot happening. I'm just so sick of not being a part of a physical organization/chapter and actually doing something to better my community/country.
Does anyone have any connections or recommendations?

If this isn't your thing, ignore it. I'm firm in my beliefs and I'm not willing to budge on them but I'm always down to answer questions and spread class consciousness.

This is how social bubbles are formed

No, I'm down for criticism that's constructive and logically sound, but that's rarely what I'm presented with in Tucson and on reddit as a whole.

Lol so you’re always open minded and want to hang out with people who share vastly different ideologies than you while you organize politically?

Who upvoted this garbage?

Lol okay it’s irrelevant whether or not you’d actually organize politically

This person wants to find like minding individuals to canvass with.

I don’t think you’re actually that open minded tbh.

The Revolutionary Grounds cafe caters to a left-radical crowd, so you may find some connections there.

I can't reffer you to any group expressly about politics but if you are looking for likeminded people there are several activist groups in town you could get involved in. Tucson food share or food not bombs, splinter collective, no mas muertes, to name a few.

Leftist/Anarchist/Communist Search and Rescue group:

I went once in Sept 2021 to Cabeza Prieta, we found a guy before our hike started and saved his life. The search areas are dangerous and you should consider bringing a weapon with you if engaging in this kind of work. Several others in the group bring weapons, some are unarmed.

Armed communists hunting immigrants in the wilderness. Sounds exciting.

Lol yeah it’s exactly how it sounds. I’m not associated with this group, but I did accompany them once. I went once with a girl friend at the time because she felt unsafe sleeping in a tent in the desert where there’s a lot of activity, so I went with her. You can feel eyes watching you in the darkness, almost. There’s a real sense of danger with all the human remains laying around.

I personally don’t really vibe with the political ideology but they’re a group of people that care about human life. It’s a complicated situation to involve yourself in and it can come with legal trouble. However, everything considered, one of the most eye opening experiences of my life. I had never witnessed illegal immigration and the circumstances that surround it before then. I had only read about it in books and in high school. At the end of the day, one less person died from exposure and I’m grateful to have helped them.

God I hope not.

I mean the reality is there's not a lot of organizing and action to be done most of the time. If you want to do something actionable you'll find a lot of people who share your beliefs doing charity/volunteer work, but the focus there is gonna be on that work and not the political motivation of it, which is kind of the point.

Pre-pandemic, there were a few kids at a table on University and Euclid, in front of the CVS, promoting full-on Marxism. I stopped and ask to make sure—I sympathize with the ideals and identify as a "socialist" in the Warren / Sanders / Scandinavian nations sense—but at least the person I talked to unironically believed in the inevitable violent rise of the proletariat.

So there's a group somewhere, or at least there was recently. UofA is probably the best place to start looking?

Yeah, no, I'm talking full-on marxism/leninism/maoism/etc. I think Bernie was on the right path at one point, and I think he genuinely believes in what he says and does, but the problem is that at the end of the day, he's still just a liberal democrat.

My boyfriend and I are moving to Tucson in early January. Curious to know if you found what you were looking for, because I have the same questions -- which is how I ended up in this thread, obv

I grew up in USSR, why don’t we meet and I tell you all about the joys of communism. I swear to god, nothing worse than spoiled american kids pretending they understand things happening outside their bubble.

Wow, you've assumed a lot here. lmfao. I wouldn't trust the opinion of any soviet expat in the US. Just like all the right-wing cubans that came here after their revolution.
