The Virus
There's too much hate in the world
But that's nothing new
I would complain about it,
But what good would that do?
The swords are sharpened
They're ready on both sides
Their bows are drawn
There is violence in their eyes
The mob's anger is spewed
All over the public square
Justifying their side
The shots are unfair
I can't open my computer
I can't check my feed
Without witnessing the war
On every post I read
They're twisting the other's words
They're touting their own
They're calling each other names
From the safety of their phone
They'll justify "righteous" murder
They'll crucify every sin
While excusing their own failures
Time and time again
At the risk of sounding cliche
It makes me sick to see
My stomach twists and turns
Seeing nowhere to flee
So instead I'll join in
Knowing I can't just sit
These people are disgusting
And I hate them for it
My sword is now sharpened
It's ready at my side
My bow is now drawn
With violence in my eyes
I'll spew my great anger
All over the public square
I'll justify my side
It doesn't have to be fair
I'll open my computer
I'll post to my feed
I'll join in the war
On every update I read
I'll twist my enemy's words
And I will tout my own
I will call them every name
From the safety of my phone
I will justify righteous murder
I will crucify every sin
I will excuse my own failures
Time and time again
This war will not stop
Until we all are dead
The pandemic is our hatred
And this is how it spreads
