I have an ear infection

I have an ear infection

My ear is clogged with what I assume is swelling and watery wax leaks out of it

The pain is nearly unbearable

I tried to sleep through it but the pain is worse every time I wake up

The pain somehow spread to the whole right side of my face

I can’t cry about it because it hurts when I wince

I decided to put some headphones on

They were soft enough so they didn’t hurt

It didn’t even feel like my ear was clogged when I had them on

I decided to play some music

The pain was relieved

The louder I turned up the volume the more the music overwhelmed the pain

Days on end I would listen to music at maximum volume, lost in this blissful cacophony

I didn’t sleep… why would I?

I instead searched for apps to make the music even louder

I wanted the bass to shake the headphones and the treble to be heard by my neighbors

I was in heaven

Until my eardrums ruptured

There was no more music

There was no more anything

There was no more ear infection
