Poem

The screeching stillness of dawn,

Cast in pale rays, I step with fox and hedgehog alone,

cold air, broken only by cigarette smoke consumes my body.

I stumble on grass, crisp and wet, majestic and pure,

Determined, shaking, unafraid and scared to death all at once.

The moon sings it's blue song, the melody falls all around me;

broken only by faint orange hue, so unfiltered,

sepia, it sparks memories of Vietnam footage.

Beauty surrounds me yet remains barred from my form;

White, like my bones, if I inquire too long we may become one.

The next time I awake I hope it will be as a bird.

To rise in the dawn, unaware of human complexities and vices,

with damaged arms forming to wings, carrying me through meadow and sky,

with beak, to nurture whom I love, whom I protect, whom depend on me,

I only pray such peace can find myself.

I would really love some feedback if you are inclined. I really want to improve my skills so don't be scared of brutal honesty. Thankyou for reading also, it means a lot ~
