Reflection

Poem

Your light is lost to the night with a shudder

I knew you as well as you could be known

But who can really know another?

The picture I’ve painted of you In my mind remains

A twinkle of the eye, a toast of champagne

We’ve all lost them before, a brother, or a lover.

A part of them persists, a reflection, a perception.

But who can really know another?

I wish for more time, for another taste

A soul is such a precious thing to waste

But a memory is all I had all along

Your mind was yours alone, like a bird, and it’s song
