The Great War
My hand shakes as it grips the wooden piece
My template is laid before me
Is this so great now?
Why did we abandon our bodies?
A shell as much as the ones below us
Empty, both killers
What was once illuminated by copper
Is now resting with the dirt and dust of the Earth
As are you my enemy
As are we all
Left with divided hearts
Despair and loss
Credence was gripping my neck firmly with it’s hand
The truth is now blackened
I take a stand
For my final introspection
My hand shakes as it fires the wooden piece
I realize
There will never be peace
As the only pieces that remain
Are those of hope scattered amongst the soil
The grounds we walk upon
Will be haunted by the division of mankind forever
