Fate
Fate
Standing prostrate at river's edge,
I've walked as far as I can go.
To contemplate the sortilege,
I need to act while tide is low.
The pungent scent and acrid mud,
My feet sinking into the muck.
Upon the ground I spill my blood,
And pray for random change of luck.
I turn to head back up the hill,
Surrounded by a drizzly mist.
Deep in my bones I feel a thrill,
My invocation has been kissed.
But once I've reached the street once more,
The clouds begin to dissipate.
I feel as though I did before,
As only I control my fate.
