catharsis, is deadly.
Catharsis is tricky
it may even be a problem
or a painful lie
in helping you understand
at what could help you
in your healing
eating,
is cathartic.
reading about a similar situation as you,
is cathartic.
writing yourself a lie,
about what you would've rather happened,
is cathartic.
and so is revenge,
cathartic.
so I wonder,
if we could ever really tell the difference
about what is truly good for us,
and what isn't.
catharsis can help
but should we seek it?
does ruminating on painful stories
with no love or person to
help us out of the prison we dig ourselves
ever truly worth it?
as creators,
artists, writers, music makers
we thrive off of stories
off of the dreams of others
and our own dreams too
our self-driven purpose
can keep us entrenched
in the stories we tell
the stories we pay attention to
and the catharsis they bring
in the hopes of seeking catharsis
perhaps creators trap themselves
in their own nightmares
and in the nightmares
of others long ago, experienced.
perhaps,
we should be more wary
about what we find catharsis in
and what we allow ourselves to feel it from
perhaps,
we are hurting ourselves
by not trying to find catharsis
in even the stories that bloom dreams.
perhaps,
that by pretending we can only experience pain
until the pain is fully gone
do we seal our own fates
forever plummeting us further
into depression.
