I also thought you were seeking advise. Next time you title Haiku try something like this: 

Advise (a Haiku). That is how I have done it on here. 

Also, just a heads up that your last line should be 5 syllables but it is 6. If that was purposeful then disregard!

Thank you for your input! I’m definitely going to write more haiku as I find it very enjoyable and challenging to create imagery within such a short format.

I liked the whole theme, but for me if you want really to do a awesome haiku is nice to trace some unexpected relationship between a natural phenomena in the first line and in the second line something like this that you wrote!

No, you're just plain wrong. Poems that follow the same structure as haiku without using nature motifs are called senryu. 

You can say that your poem is inspired by haikus but to write a different genre and then insist on it being a haiku is just ignorant. What you're doing is the equivalent of someone from a non-western culture writing an ode and calling it a sonnet. In other words, it doesn't offend anyone, it just comes across as not knowing what you're doing

Humanity is nature in my opinion, and from a modernist standpoint haiku at this point can be about anything. Still I write for pleasure, and have reworked it to fit traditionalist sensibilities.


Kindness is free seed

It will often reap you naught,

just joy, sowing smiles.

Not to sound elitist, but this isn't even a haiku. Haiku aren't just defined by syllable count (or mora count if you write in Japanese). Their motif also has to be something related to nature, which your poem isn't

I (genuinely!) love how after someone pointed out that by definition a haiku includes a nature/season reference, all of your response haikus have addressed the previous comment haiku AND have a nature reference thrown in! Way to adapt on your feet.

Hate and strength and death

Conversation still takes two

I am having fun

is it strong to fail?

true strength isn't just power,

strength can be gentle.

We all die one day,

The kind and the cruel alike;

Better to live strong.

Heart attacks and shame

The worms will enjoy that strength

A lonely journey
