Heavy Baggage
Trickled down afflictions
Reflected in the unions of my lineage
Inflicted on those that came after.
Hefty baggage gets passed down
Hand after hand
It gets heavier
And heavier
With each hand it touches.
Its my turn now.
It's getting difficult
My back can’t take the weight
I’m crumbling
Slowly but surely.
I've seen glimpses of my demons in the mirror
It's not a pretty sight.
It's a shame you’ve got to see it too.
What can you expect though,
A student emulates his teachers
It's all he knows.
I know the beast must be tamed.
Before he tames me.
I’ll head back to the garden of Eden.
Rip the plants out of the earth
And get to the root.
All I need is time.
