This was difficult to read, raw.  I felt a sense of reflection in this piece: most of us have been the oppressed *and* the oppressor; reflecting upon how our actions affect others and how we’ve been affected.  And, at the end, a small recognition of why we keep coming back to situations like these, affection.  Thank you for sharing this.

I'll be honest...I have never liked, "love me or I will hurt myself" poetry...doesn't mean those people don't exist, but....they need some self-awareness...does that make sense?

The subject needs to not just crave the pain, but have some idea of why. What in their past has lead to this need?

There was a breaking point somewhere...this is a broken person...what damaged them?

Technically, something like this needs a strict rhyme and beat structure. This has to be forced into a rut, molded to suit... the power structure in this relationship would not settle for anything less.

 Sorry, that is a lot...

The appeal of this poem is simple human emotion, like we have all felt some time in our life-- this awful, unignorable feeling that seems it'll split our chest in two. A specific critique would be to switch the words "fathom" and "function", because they would make more sense that way. Overall, not a bad work, though I feel some of the sentiment could've been expressed in a more rhythmic way.

Hurt me in ways that I cannot fathom  
Treat me like shit so I cannot function  
Wipe away my tears like you did at night  
Tell me you love me to my face  

Cut my wrists and kiss me bloody  
Slit my heels so I cannot escape  
You are all I have ever wanted  
Please do not change  

Leave me with no food for days  
Make me beg just for water  
I love the way you apply your lipstick  
The medicine makes me so numb  

Punch me in my chest so my heart cannot keep time  
Then do it again so I finally quit moving  
It is my fault I cannot take in air  
It's my fault...  
It's my...  

I love you...
