I wanted to be a cartpusher
I wanted to be a Cartpusher
But people might scoff and tare
My life goals include more sure
But I really enjoyed being a Cartpusher
I enjoyed the wind past my feet
To see the mountains at my surmise
But I know my job had an end
I just wish I could do more
In school I learn with lack of focus
The drive takes my full attention
Still, I yearn for both
Because I felt valued
Corporate jobs are hailed as soulless
But mine was the opposite
I enjoyed the people
Who treated me like family
There was free coffee aplenty
And water was always near
People looked out for one another
Despite the office politics being there
I know that corporate jobs let people go
I know that I’m replaceable
I’m aware that where I worked
Is often just a steppingstone
My coworkers will leave
As I left as expected
I had left to focus on school
But still I felt valued there
At the time
My soul was filled
Just as a memory bubble’s up
I see a young girl who smiles and helps me
I let her help me push some carts in
But she’s out of dangers way
A young girl smiles while having fun
She says she wants to be a Cartpusher too
I stare at her with wonder and appreciation
Knowing this girl will love life
Now I reflect once more
I can see it again
I see my life goals include more
De-stressing part-time there and working elsewhere
