Your Invitation

Poem

Snow flutters this way and that,

Amidst plains most flat,

Where ice encrusts around cat tails.

A little man stands - unfit,

In a flaring black tailcoat that doesn't fit,

In a block of ice that glints in the waxing moon light.

Outside is all manner of strife,

Of humdrum and fear, agony akin to King Leer,

But it is different inside.

Inside is peace,

Ample meat and mead,

Encased in motionless - all in one piece - serene.

From the block of ice flails,

One white gloved hand,

grasping an invitation to the kingdom that never fails.
