Friendship

Poem

We’re friends now.

And my hands don’t know what to do.

They dance in front of me like leaves in the wind.

Making patterns I don’t intend.

Casting spells,

Wishes it was different.

They want to come together and beg for forgiveness.

They want to wipe away tears.

They want to change space and time,

Make me into something else.

I force them to be still.

They go numb with cold and disuse.

They want to reach for you.

But that’s not allowed anymore.

They want to pull you in.

But you want me to stay away.

They want to hold close.

But you want me to let go.

I am trying.

It’s okay.

I can be your friend.

But my hands,

they just don’t know what to do…
