Ode to a Rudolf Stingel exhibit

Poem

Let me be pillow princess, damsel undistressed;

Adorn me in carpet fringe and curtain tassel;

Let upholstery be the way in which I’m dressed;

Weave me, tie the ends, make me impossible to unravel.

I want to be a Persian beauty, rug vedette;

I want to be doused in red wine, bathed in coffee;

I want to smell sweetly of men’s old cigarettes;

I want to be sunken into, and want to be unfree.

One; two
