Head To Toe
Oh weary heart
That beat so true
I’d not be here if it weren’t for you
You sang a song that rang so sweet
And left me doubtless, our love was concrete
Oh weary feet
That ran to the fire
Your scolded soles a victim of desire
You ran your knees into the ground
To keep that love, concrete, around
Oh weary brain
That whispered me truths
Instead of the lies I wanted in sooth
You uttered ‘It’s over’ and I had to accept
That for my heart and my feet, it was time to rest.
This is my first attempt at rhyming poetry so apologies if it seems somewhat contrived!
