Yes, you nailed it, thanks for the kind words

I am assuming that this poem is describing the aftermath or some sort of battle/scuffle, where there are casualties. And if so, I love how you incorporate nature into it, with both your opening and closing lines. "a crow feeds tonight" adds a sort of morbid, realistic sense to the piece. Makes it eerie, which is hard to do in three lines. I also like how you didn't put the crow part on a new line, really helps the flow of the whole thing. Great job :>

Thank you. I’m in the same camp re short poems, if the same emotion must be shared amongst few words, it puts emphasis on the value of each word imho.

I'm usually not a massive fan of poems as short as this, but it gave me a good chill! The first line in particular really hints at an unknown event that's altered the land in an unnatural way and hasn't been fixed. Really hints at the futility of war, we are all just bird food at the end of the day...

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. The men lay still
