What bugs me
There are bugs in my veins
They crawl and writhe when things break
They shift and twist when things go wrong
They crawl and squirm when people speak
They worm their way into my heart and brain and stomach, eating away at me
They fill me with hate and malice and tell me it's my fault
They tell me to scratch and bite and tear and rip
They tell me to hurt and to be hurt
I don't want them anymore, but they are pouring out of my ears and eyes
They smell like garbage and rot
They cover my skin and soothe my pain
The bugs are my friends, I could never be rid of them
They keep me safe
[One of my first poems, critique and criticism is welcome!]
