I've started a project to increase diversity of character portraits with AI-generated images. Over 10,000 tagged and searchable images uploaded so far. There are Leshy and Conrasu!

If you can get Pathfinder looking elves, goblins, or gnomes you are going to have a very useful collection. That isn't to say it is not useful now and has very impressive work in it already. Great work!

SadnotOP•

Thanks! At some point, I definitely intend to try those ancestries.

That is amazing work! Can't imagine that was easy figuring out the exact prompt to get them.

1
SadnotOP•

It mainly relies on a model trained by u/Vttrpgresources, along with an embedding I trained to finetune it a bit.

The ones posted work pretty well for my chosen of lamashtu goblin

This started as a project to increase diversity in AI-generated images by including random nationality descriptors, along with character class, background, outfits, and various other randomly-generated features. Now we've got weremelons.

You are all free to do whatever you like with the images. I don't intend to try copyrighting them, if such a thing will even be possible. Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback. I intend to keep expanding the scope of the images.

FruityWelsh•

With AI copy rights being up in the air, I would suggest declaring an intention to make creative commons or something like that just in case if you intend for them to just be free to use (just in case).

22
SadnotOP•

If possible, it's my intent for these images to be public domain. I might put up a disclaimer for that on the site. I encourage people to do whatever they like with these images, and to credit me as much or as little as they want.

14
Fatboy1513:Society: GM in Training•

Creative Commons is basically public domain, but it's a license that you can put on stuff you make while you have the copyright to it. There are some limitations you can choose to put on it, like no commercial use, or you can choose for it to basically be public domain but your name has to be on it.

7
KyonaLuya•

CC0 is a commonly used license for putting things in the public domain in a legally unambiguous way: https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/public-domain/cc0/

5
SadnotOP•

Happy to announce that I've licensed the images under CC0 now. u/FruityWelsh

6
SadnotOP•

That's almost certainly what I'll use.

SadnotOP•

Yeah, the site's under heavy load. I'm sure it will even out soon, but I'll look into solutions.

4
Metal-Wolf-Enrif•

You should add in goloma, they certainly need some love too

19
SadnotOP•

Honestly, they make me extremely uncomfortable to look at - but I'll be doing them at some point anyway!

21
Deity_Kairia•

Just be ready, there is very little art of them. I doubt there will be a lot an AI program could do with those ugly things.

3
SadnotOP•

I've been having to train a custom model, but I've had progress! https://imgur.com/a/oLdQ4rE

2
Deity_Kairia•

Yes, kill it with fire as soon as possible. They're already a very poor design, no need to make it worse.

1
brianlane723:Badge: Infinite Master•

Just use a seed of alien horse people with too many eyes. What could possibly go wrong?

1
Deity_Kairia•

Probably the same amount of wrong as an Anadi Werecreature Hybrid form.

Remember, the Human form is a Polymorph effect, the Anadi's natural form is a giant spider and they are considered Humanoid.

248 Conrasu portraits? That's amazing, we needed way more Conrasu art

12
SadnotOP•

Of... varying quality, and not exactly as creative as some of the human-drawn ones I've seen. But there should be some good images!

15
straikychan•

What search terms did you use to get conrasu? For the life of me I can't get any text to image model to draw me useful conrasu.

1
ExhibitAa•

This is outstanding. I love playing "weird" races, and it's always tough to find good character art. I'll definitely be saving this for my next leshy.

7

One of the hardest ones I've found to generate are lizardfolk. Just can't seem to get the right cues together

7
SadnotOP•

Yeah, that's a hard one! I've had some success using actual lizard species in the prompt. And of course, if you do it manually with inpainting it's not too tricky. E.g. this portrait I did for a friend https://i.imgur.com/g1pvfZ8.png which was a bit more dinosaur-like.

13

Now that's impressive. Bravo.

2
FlamingPeach787•

This is amazing! Thank you so much.

4
SadnotOP•

I'm glad you enjoy it!

4
NekoKawashu•

These are lovely! Which AI/Tool did you use, and could you perhaps also share how you constructed your prompts?

4
SadnotOP•

I've left the metadata on the images intact, if you want to see the prompts. I used a script to randomly vary the prompts, e.g. "25 year-old Tibetan terrier dogfolk female druid, wearing steel and gold filigree (knight helm), head and [[shoulders]], (fantasy character portrait), dramatic lighting, digital art, artstation, painting, realistic masterpiece, sunset in background, style of Style2". Frequently, I included "legs, torso" etc in the negative prompts, to avoid full body shots.

The images were created with Stable Diffusion, running off a Google colab. I trained a style/portrait model by generating images, picking my favourites, and then retraining on those images. The catfolk were generated using a tabaxi model made by u/C21Silarion.

18
NekoKawashu•

Thank you very much! This is really helpful.

1
Lorkynn•

Oh, this works rather well for Leshy and Conrasu, which already have a hard enough time finding inspirational images for. The issues that AI have with hands oddly work for the Conrasu.

Brb adding Sadnot, “The Infinite Visage” to my pantheon

2
RussischerZar:Glyph: Game Master•

Ok I think your site is currently under heavy traffic, it seems extreeeemely slow. Would love to take a look but like this it's just pain.

2
SadnotOP•

Yeah, it's clear to me that I'm going to need to upgrade it a little. Hope you check back later!

3
RussischerZar:Glyph: Game Master•

Ok, it seems to work fine now. A bit sad there's only 3 actual shoony pictures (tag: pug).

Otherwise I guess there could be some QoL improvements for navigation, like easier tag combination or something.

But great job in any case! Definitely looking forward to many more tag combinations to come!

2
SadnotOP•

Yeah, so far you can only combine tags using the search function. That's a good point about the pugs - it's a shame not so many of them made it through. Maybe I'll do an additional shoony-focused run with more flat-faced dogs.

BlitzStriker52•

I second adding Golomas! That said, this is amazing and my table will be really grateful for this!

2
boblk3:Glyph: Game Master•

Just a note outside of the nationality factors. Could you use some tags for skin color or variation?

I see Haitian as a tag, which is incredible, but if there was a more expansive way to group images of POC outside of a nationality, that would be wonderful and possibly more intuitive!

2
SadnotOP•

I could put nations as subgroups in a skin colour tag, but I'd have to decide exactly which nations to put where, and that might be a bit contentious.

How would you do it, if you could?

3
boblk3:Glyph: Game Master•

Any way of doing a color picker that shoots for images most closely aligned to that color? Or even color tags that you combine with others to get closer to what you're looking for and leaving nationality as a hidden tag.

It could help solve for issues that arise from things like people wanting green skinned orc vs those who are grey skinned.

3
SadnotOP•

Interesting... I might be able to do that.

2
dontknockit900•

Love it

2
AuthorOB•

Great stuff. Makes me wish I had more games to play in so I could make more characters.

2
Ashvuir•

Have you thought about various beastkin images? Such as insect or reptiles?

2
SadnotOP•

At some point. Out of those, lizardfolk might be soonest, if I can get them working, since they're a reasonably popular ancestry.

1
TempestRime•

DOGFOLK! I love them! What a wonderful bunch of good boys!

2
NotSeek75:Magus_Icon: Magus•

Some android portraits would be great, if you get the chance. I've personally found that it's difficult to find art for that kind of thing that doesn't also scream cyberpunk.

1
SadnotOP•

They're a low priority, but I hope to eventually have every ancestry available.

2
Inevitable-1:Glyph: Game Master•

Wait you can make these, can you make one of a white Pomeranian dog that looks irritated and a dragonfruit Leshy that looks cute and feminine?
