Sirens

The TV calls them “young man” or “young juvenile” or worse, “victim” (their existence is rebellion).

We call them “damn shame” and shake our heads.

But I call them sirens

because sirens only sing.

All they know is song

because something put it in them one way or another.

And now someone has taken it away.
